Death Note One-shot

For Whom The Bell Tolls

L/OC (Llana for those of you who have read T and the B)

A/N: I got this idea from a poem by John Donne. It's part of Meditation 17, we learned it in school. As I was reading it I was thinking DEATHNOTE! Please enjoy.

NUNC LENTO SONITU DICUNT, MORIERIS.

Now this bell tolling softly for another, says to me, Thou must die.

Llana violently turned in the bed and pulled the covers over her head.

They were still fucking there, those stupid bells. Why wouldn't they go away?

She looked over at the clock, "Midnight… great." She said rubbing her eyes. She squeezed the stuffed panda in her hand as the thunder shook the hotel.

She buried herself deeper into the covers, "Stupid thunder." It rumbled again and she threw off the covers. She lightly stepped into the main part of the hotel room. There was a warm glow from the computers and a light snoring from Matsuda's sleeping form on the couch.

"Where is he?"

Llana walked to the window and pressed her hands to the cold glass.

And there it was again, that damn bell, who the hell was ringing bells at midnight!?

Then it hit her, she knew where he was.

*****

It was so cold, so mind numbingly cold, just how he liked it.

He didn't want to feel a thing, he just wanted to stand here and listen to the despicable bells that had haunted him, the bells he knew haunted her too.

"Now this bell tolling softly for another, says to me, though must die." He whispered to himself softly.

"L!"

He turned slowly and smiled small.

Why did she do this? Her short, silk nightgown was clinging to her body, showing everything, she was going to get sick.

"L! What are you doing!" She yelled above the roar of the rain.

She stepped to him and he reached out for her, the bells still ringing loudly in his ears, "You'll freeze."

She grabbed his hand and stepped closer, "You shouldn't be out here, it's late… and raining…and…"

"I'll hear them no matter what."

"No man is an Island… I'll bear them with you. You won't stand alone." She pressed her body to his.

He liked it, the feel of her on him.

She looked up, "Why are you crying…"

He smiled softly, "It's the rain…"

She kissed just under his eye… tears. She knew the difference from rainwater and tears.

L. I won't… I won't believe that they're ringing for you.

He pulled her closer. He wanted her close, as close as possible, because that day, she was so far away. Never to be close again.

"They're not… not this time."

She tensed. Nonsense. Complete nonsense what he was speaking. They would never if she could help it.

"Let me make it go away. Please. I'll make the bells go away…"

Now this bell tolling softly for another, says to me… though must love.

It was gone, he couldn't hear a thing, and he was no longer numb. She moaned openly as his tongue moved with hers.

Because I couldn't hold you all those years ago…

She moved her hands up his shirt, the thunder rumbled, she paid it not mind.

"L…"

He pressed against her on the wall, rain pelting his back and head, but it all wasn't there. He gripped her thigh, pulling her leg around his waist.

"L please…" she breathed

Because you begged for me, mind, body, soul…

"Ah-ah! L… mmm…"

All he felt was the warmth of her. His love flowing over, his love for her…

She nipped at his neck, it felt… unreal. But it was there, the passion, the care, the love… it was definitely there.

Because the bell will NEVER toll for you.

It was what they wanted. To prove that love was all there was, even a rival love, a one-sided, and unseen, a prayed for love… to prove that the bells could be ignored.

Now this bell tolling softly for another, says to me, Though must…
