Disclaimer: I don't own anything but the story
Trudy watched as Adrian started twitching in his sleep. She saw him toss and turn. It was as if he was running in his sleep and yet stuck on a treadmill. It must have been one hell of a dream he was having emphasis on hell but she knew it would be dangerous to wake him up. Sleepers can get aggressive without meaning to. Awake, Adrian was probably the mildest man in the world but when he was having a nightmare, not so much. He suddenly woke up with a start and she saw that there were tears in his eyes.
"Adrian what happened," she asked him.
"I… I lost you"
She rubbed his shoulders.
"Honey I'm right here," she told him, "You were just having a dream"
"That was no dream," he said, "It was a nightmare. The car exploded and you were in it and I should have been in it but you were and-"
"Adrian," she said, "look at me"
Slowly he lifted his eyes towards her, "that won't be happening anytime soon if ever" she told her.
"I know," he said, "but it was so scary. When I think about how close I came to losing you even for a little while-"
"Come on," she said, "lets go take a walk on the boardwalk. I think we can both use some fresh air"
He paused for a second then nodded just grateful not to have lost her.
