A Bolt of Death
One-Shot by Lauren Jackson
I sat there on the ground. His weak, limp, pale body laid in my arms.
He can't go this soon. I dreaded this day forever. I thought this would come later in life when we had grandchildren, not this early, not even before we were married.
His chest was barely moving. Tears were streaming down my face.
I hate this curse; I knew he was going to die. The stupid curse the children of Hades had; knowing someone or something was going to die before it happened. You can feel it inside.
Some wouldn't categorize it as a curse, but in this situation; I freaking hate this freaking curse!
"No," I said in a small voice.
I looked over his pale body. His shirt was torn off. I actually tore it off. I need to see the damage she had done.
Gods, I knew she would come back for revenge.
My eyes drifted towards the wound; a huge, deep gash in his stomach. She wouldn't be able to heal it, neither would her dad.
She had to steal that lightning bolt to get her revenge.
She was jealous of me.
She thought she deserved him, when she bribed Aphrodite in the beginning.
It was a huge lie, their love, a big, fake lie.
"Don't go," I whispered.
"You… you know I'm g-g-going," he said shakily back.
He was in a cold sweat now.
"I love you Percy Jackson," I said, tears rolling down out of my eyes.
"I love you Lauren Jackson," and with his last ounce of energy, he pulled out a black little box and in a small voice said, "Marry me."
Tears ran down my face as a smile formed. "Yes," I said.
He sighed. "I love you…" Then my husband closed his eyes and on the inside, I felt that he was dead.
Stupid curse.
Stupid Annabeth for getting her revenge.
She had to aim that bolt at me and Percy just had to step in front of me.
Stupid life.
Stupid death.
