Chapter 1- Sol 5
Well, shit. I can't believe it. I'm actually stuck on Mars. I, Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr., am stuck on Mars. And here I thought I would die in a Peruvian pyramid. At this point there have been hundreds of missions on Mars. But 6 years ago, after roaming into unmarked territory, some of the astronauts found some ruins under the sand. Seeing how none of them have an archeological background and I'm an accomplished archeologist, they called me and put me through training. That area was off limits until I arrived and I could examine it properly.
After being here 1 day and about to head out to the site, a storm hits and the mission is called off. Despite being upset, I knew we had to leave. In all the chaos of trying to get back to the ship, a huge boulder crashed into me and hurtled me away.
Long story short, the crew left without me and now I'm here. I'm lucky though. Only got a bruised shoulder and abdomen. Still, here I am, and no one knows I'm alive. Damn.
Chapter 2- Sol 6
After a night's sleep I've realized I can actually survive here. Along in my crew, one of them had a background in botany. Thanks to history, I can actually make something of this. He brought a pound of Earth soil. Using an ancient Mesopotamian technique, I can mix the fresh earth soil with Martian soil to get more soil where I can grow things. The method will take a while, but with my knowledge and my colleague's supplies, I can manage. This hangar has enough space for about 100 square meters of growing space. I have enough food to last me 400 days by myself, and enough water to grow the plants and for myself. My plants include corn, tomatoes, peas and potatoes. No fruit seeds, but those would take longer (I don't have time to wait for a damn tree). I have meat as well. Modern technology allows me to keep meat refrigerated for 2 years without spoiling. Naturally it won't taste as good by that time, but it's better than nothing.
My only problem is getting back. A satellite dish was knocked out during the storm, so earth can't see or hear me. Another mission here is supposed to be launched this week, but with my accident it could be cancelled. Even if they left today it would take them 4 years to reach me. I don't know if I can last that long. If I don't run out of food, I might go insane from my solitude. I'll figure it out tomorrow.
