sunshine

She's beautiful.

She's beautiful.

She's beautiful.

...

.

you are my sunshine...

They are sitting together on the docks, their legs dangling over the cold waters of the lake. They are both eight years old, naive and weary of the world. Begging for the wind to take them on a journey. The beautiful mural of warm colors are painted before them as the dusk approaches.

They whisper small stories to each other, fragments of what's left of their memories. "Where are you from?," He asks, quietly. Hesitantly she replies, "A place. Far far away," staring off into the horizon. Very closly together they sat, enjoying the silence. The dock was made of wood and was virtually empty if not for their prescences.

The water was calm as the wind brushed against it lightly. There are no fishermen out at the moment, which was a bit odd as it's usually a busy port.

"What's your name?," He asks, curious of the small girl sitting next to him. She turns her head slightly, her blonde locks falling perfectly around her heart-shaped face. She blinks and a hint of rosiness appears on the apples of her cheeks.

"I'm Raven,"

...my only sunshine...

"My mother and father are rarely home because of their work," He explains, taking her frail hand. He leads her across the halls of his manor, empty and filled with lingering souls unable to have their peace.

Quickly sprinting, he pulls her towards a light at the end of he corridor. "Where are you taking me?," She asks.

Grinning, he replies, "A place. Far far away,"

...you make me happy...

There is a garden that you could only enter if you have a key to the gate. He had taken her there once and she swears she had never seen anything more beautiful. There was an abundance of flowers, everything she could think of. The colors were like a panorama of a lovely rainbow, scattered across the parts of the grass.

She skips around, picking different flowers, one-by-one, laughing through the whole time.

When he hears her tinkling sound of a giggle, he swears he had never heard anything more beautiful.

...when the skies are grey...

She skips over to him, holding a lily in her hand. "Charles," She'd say, with her sweet, innocent voice. "Yes?," He'd reply, his voice caressing, dancing with the wind. It echoes in her ear, like a soft melody she knows so well.

"Isn't it beautiful?," She admires the lily, like it was the most wonderful thing in the world. He looks past it, staring at her fast all the while. "Yes, she is," He smiles.

And she smiles back.

...you'll never know dear...

Sometimes she'd leave and wouldn't come back for days. And he'd miss her, greatly. Staring through the glass windows, drawing little pictures on the perspiring transparant mirror, as the rain falls. He silently counts each little droplet until he hears the bounding footsteps of her scampering feet or the innocent thoughts of her docile mind.

...how much i love you...

They are at the dock again and the sunset is even more radiant then usual. They are sixteen and their legs are swaying, together now, and they are sitting more closely.

She looks around and sees how this is everything she wants and he looks at her and thinks that she's everything he wants.

"Can I stay?," She asks.

He smiles.

"Yes, you may,"
