A/N: Found this in a notebook, might have been written years ago, can't remember. Oh well, just thought I'd post it anyway.

Coby sometimes, in the quiet times, looks at the bounty posters of his first friends and tries to work out exactly what happened that day. The day he became a marine. The day the Mugiwara pirates were truly born. The day the Mugiwara pirates first stood up against the marines.

That day is now a part of quiet history. With very few people who truly know what happened that day, and even fewer talk about it, most people only know the rumours.

Coby may have been there that day and laughs at most of the rumours, but he still wonders what exactly he missed. Why did Luffy just walk up to a guy, that was rumoured to be a demon fighter who would kill you as soon as look at you, with such ease and casually ask him to join his pirate crew after only seeing him tied to a post in the middle of a marine yard? Why didn't he take no for an answer and persist in telling Zoro that he would join his crew? How did Luffy know that after being set free he could trust Zoro at his back, catching the blow that could well have killed him? How did Zoro know that Luffy wasn't going to deal with the threat behind him?

Even after years, Coby still wonders at the true events of that day even though they occurred right in front of his eyes.
