Hello and welcome to the first chapter of Always and Forever. This story has come about after watching the series finale of The Originals (which I was not a fan of) and Legacies. Of course I started watching The Vampires Diaries when it first aired, back in my freshman year of high school. Or around seventh and eight grade. It has been awhile. Anyway, I've grown up a lot since then and after rewatching all of TVD, TO and Legacies, I can see faults where I couldn't before.

So this is my attempt at alternative Universe Fanfiction. I'm now in my second year of University and I've taken a creative writing program. This fanfiction is being written for the class, which I will show at the end of the year. Constructive critism and feed back is appreciated.

This is also inspired by me reading George R. R, Martin's, A Song of Ice and FIre. Or as some of you may know it, Game of Thrones. I read the books first and they were what got me into fantasy in the first place. A lot of this is the result of that fantastic work, my personal favorite series. Also the reason this will be rated M. For all that good sex and graphic violence. Though the sex will not be TOO descriptive. These won't be full on lemons

It will start at a divergent point from The Vampire Diaries, Season Three, Episode Thirteen: "Bringing Out the Dead." Elijah removes the dagger from his family, and they leave Klaus, with Esther not awakening. The story picks up after the Original Family is free'd.

Um, one more thing before I go on. I've changed the world a little bit further, in that Mikael created his own vampires. He changed humans that were negatively affected by vampires. Who would have a grudge against them. He offered to make them vampire's as well, so they could hunt the monster's that destroyed their lives. He changes them, then compels them to never change another person into a vampire. As well as to end there own life if they give up hunting other vampire's. After that he trains them for battle and let's them loose on the world. This group of vampires forged a secret society called the Red Night.

Also my release schedule should be, about once a week. I'm aiming for every Sunday.

Well that's a about it, so without further ado, I present to you Always and Forever.

Disclaimer: The Vampire Diaries series and it's shinoff's are based on the Vampire Diaries Books by L. J. Smith The TV Series belongs to the C.W. I in no way own the adaptations (if you can even call them that, given how different the two are) or the original series. I am but a humble fan of both, writing this for the enjoyment of other fan's. Please support the official release.

Kol I

Ever since becoming a vampire, Kol never dreamed. He only remembers. Ever night he would relive scene's and events from his past, though only after he had become vampire. He had forgotten most of his human life, only his life as a immortal remained perfect in his memory memory.

The only peace he had from those nightly remembrances were when he was daggered. The cold darkness from the dagger's lulled them all into such a deep sleep, that not even memories could touch them.

This night, everything appeared to be following that pattern. He was back in New Orleans and Klaus had awakened him. Jealous that Elijah was bonding with a brat. All the while Kol and Finn were left to rout.

This was the night Nik daggered him again. He compelled the boy and fed him his blood and waited for Nik why the boy played for him...

Only something was off. Different. The play had been changed, a new writter and newlines. At his piano, the boy played the end of his melody, slow. Stopping on a low note. In his dream, (for what else could it be but a dream?) Kol felt the unease.

"Well lad?" He had compelled him to keep playing, until Elijah, NIk or Rebeka appeared: whoever was first. Not to stop until then. But here he was, his hands frozen over the keys.

Then the boy slowly stood up, in direct opposition to his compulsion order. Which should be impossible, a mere human, a child at that, breaking free from it. The child turned on him and his eyes were filled with a cold brutality that someone as young as him shouldn't be able to feel. A hatred so deep it surprised Kol. The boy should be afraid of him.

The boy began towards him and Kol found he couldn't move. Some force locked him in place. A cruel smile twisted on the boys lips, as he reached into his pocket. Closer and closer he walked, pulling out the silver dagger.

"Marcel no!" Kol screamed himself awake, thrusting up out of bed. His breathing was labored, haggering in and out. He quickly looked around. Gone was the room, with it's piano and it's player. Surrounding him were the wood covered walls of his room, the window of his penthouse overlooking the city of Rome.

Afternoon light streamed in and slowly the fear of the dream began to fade. The three women in his bed remained pleasantly asleep, unaware of the what had transpired...

Or two of them did at least. Alice's soft lips wrapped around his manhood and he could feel himself responding. If it were any other time he, he would sit back and let her go to work. But right now, he was not in the mood for a blow job.

Kol throw his legs over the side of the bed, he pushed Alice off his dick. His disturbed Gia and Tina, who both slowly awoke. Tina was rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, Gia started at him. Tina at Alice.

In that room, Alice was the only human. Tina and Gia were newly turned vampires he personally made. No doubt she wanted him to keep her around and morning blow jobs did tend to put him in a more merciful mood.

Not today though.

"You can drink her up girl's," Kol called out behind him, as his bedroom door closed behind him. He could hear the girls growls and the sound of the air moving as they lunged at the helpless human. He could hear their fangs pierce the girls skin and her screaming response. Alice would die today. Luckily for her, he feed her his blood the night before and she would awaken with what she wanted; vampirism.

Before that though, she would die screaming. Gia and Tina would make sure of that.

Locking himself in the bathroom, Kol looked in the mirror. The fear was fading but that strange memory was not. It had bees so long since he had thought about Marcel. Not since Elijah had informed him of the boys passing.

A hour had went by before he was out of the bathroom and a nice long shower to cool his nerves. By the time he stepped out, it was two in the afternoon when he stepped out.

"Hey, you hungry?" Josh asked, poking his head out from the kitchen. "Err, for the normal kind of food. Not the bloody kind."

"No Josh. Where is Kaleb?"

"He stepped out, boss man."

"Hmm."

That was odd. Kaleb enjoyed the money and power that Kol provided, as well as his knowledge of ancient magic, so he tended to stay around the building. He never left without letting him know where he was going.

Kol pulled his own out and swiped the screen. It flashed to life and he scanned his recent messages. Nothing from Kaleb.

"Also, there's a girl here to see you. Said it was important."

"Who is she? And why did you let her in?"

"She said it she really wanted to meet the famous Kol Mikaelson."

Kol rolled his eyes. He really needed to teach Josh to not just let anyone in. She wasn't a vampire if she could walk in without an invitation. The rich old couple was far away in the America's and Kol was the only one who had their number.

"Did you ask her for her name or did you just let her in? I hope you offered her some snacks and refreshments." Kol bit back sarcastically.

"... No. Should I have?"

"It was a jest, Joshua," Kol sighed. The kid really had a thick head sometimes, Then again he had only been a vampire for a few weeks. Maybe he was just starting to get his barings. "Did you catch her name?"

"Davina Claire."

Kol perked. A Clare? He was familiar with that family. What did a New Orleans witch want with him?

"I put her in the living room. Sorry about that. I can ask her to leave-"

"No. Bring us some some coffee. Tell Gia and Tina not to disturb us."

He set off before Josh could say anything. He would do what he said. He hadn't wanted to resort to compelling those close to him if he could help it and other than Alice, he had the loyalty of everyone under his roof. And even she would change once she woke up.

Beautiful Kol thought, as his eyes caught her. She was a very beautiful women and he offered her his best smile. What games did this beautiful little minx mean to play with him. "Hello darling. I'm Kol Mikaelson. You wanted to see me?"

The girl looked up and started at him for a moment. "Yes." She answered softly. She was lounging in one of the chairs. Her eyes were tired and under them, dark circles.

"You're a witch, right?" She flinched. "I've known the Claires for a very long time. I was under the impression that they didn't like me very much."

Not that he could blame them. He liked witches. He liked them very much. The same could not be said for them liking him.

Still someone had sent this girl for him. New Orleans was all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. Why would her family send her to seek him out? As he recalled him and her family did not part on the best circumstances.

Or was it the French Quarter coven that sent her? He supposed it would be more likely them, than her family but he couldn't see why they would want to bring the New Orleans covens to his attention. It was never a smart idea to caught the eye of a Mikaelson.

"I was." She confirmed.

"And what do the fine witches of New Orleans want of me?" He asked curiously.

"No. Not the witches."

Not the witches? If not them, then who?

"A vampire asked me to."

"A vampire? Why would you cross an ocean for a vampire?"

"Because I owe him. He saved my life."

Now this was an odd turn of events. Unless a vampire was using them, they didn't tend to go out of their way to help witches. Most witches and vampires could not stand one another.

"He also said he knew you. He wanted me to come in person to deliver the message."

Kol racked his brains. He had lived for a thousand years and he knew millions of vampires. He had personally turned to many to count.

"Who is he?" Kol asked after a few seconds of silence, when she didn't answer.

"Marcel Gerard."

The name shocked him. Marcel was dead. ELijah had told him that when he was undaggered back in Mystic Falls. He couldn't be alive.

The memory from that morning came back in a flash. The first dream he had in a thousand years. Marcel coming at him with one of Nik's daggers. He hadn't missed the implication.

"Marcel Gerard is dead." Kol said, looking into her tired eyes. For any source of deceit.

"No. He's alive. He said to tell you he's survived."

And Rebekah would be to heart broken to check. With father right behind them, they wouldn't go back.

"Tell me everything," Kol ordered.

The days events lingered on his mind as Kol stared out of the window, watching the sun set. The city of Rome as beautiful. He remembered quite clearly the first time he had set foot within it, nearly a thousand years ago. The memory was forever seared into his mind, perfectly preserved like every other memory he had since becoming a vampire.

The front door opened. The scent belonged to Kaleb. Kol sipped the glass of blood, not taking his eyes off the sunset as he heard Kaleb approach.

"Wow. Hey man. Pretty quiet today."

That was true. He had been living it up ever since he had first been freed from his dagger. Fucking two or four girls ever night, draining the ones he didn't like, keeping the ones he did. Every day was a party, where the blood and good times flowed.

He had traveled with Elijah, Rebekah and Finn for the first few days. Before Finn decided that he did not want to stay with them. He wanted to go his own way. Kol could respect that and he felt much the same way, leaving ELijah and Rebekah the same night. From what he last heard, they had decided to divide as well. They had all been stayed together for so long, by the threat of father and Nik.

No more. Now he was free from them. Free from Always and Forever at last. The vow he never made. The vow that haunted him even now.

He turned to look at Kaleb. He was wearing the leather jacket that he had bought him and a simple outfit under it. Under his arms, a package, wrapped in browmln paper. He wore a concerned look on his face.

Normally at this time, he would be drinking and fucking or whatever else came across Kol's mind at this hour. Not so subdued.

"So where is everyone? I haven't seen Gia, Tina, Alice or Josh."

"Josh and Tina are out packing. Gia is with Alice introducing her to her new life."

"New life? You changed her?"

Kol nodded, sipping on the blood.

Kaleb paused for a moment, as if considering.

"So. You said packing. Are we leaving?"

"Yes."

"Where are we going?"

"New Orleans."

"... Did something happen?"

"We got a visitor."

Kol explained how Davina Claire showed up asking for him. How it was his old friend Marcel who sent her. How he had become the vampire king of New Orleans in the Mikaelson family's absence. That he saved Davina and brought the French Quarter coven to heel. How recently someone had moved into town and started under mining Marcel's authority. How the guest had gotten the French Quarter witches to work for them. How the guest seemed to be two or three moves ahead. How Marcels control of the city was slipping.

He left out his dream.

Kaleb whistled low, leaning back in the chair. "That is quite the story."

Another sip. "Yes."

"So we're going to New Orleans. See what's going on?"

"Yes."

Kaleb hummed. "So does that mean we don't have to worry about Klaus anymore?"

Kol turned and shoot him a look. "If only."

Nik would never let any of them go. He had made that vow and stubbornly held onto it since. When ever anyone of them tried to leave him, Nik would hunt the offender down and shove a dagger in their heart. Until releasing them a century or two later, with the threat of doing it again. Unless you were Finn.

Nik was going to come for them all one day and if they refused him, he'd put them back in a box.

"Well then. You'll be happy to know I finished it. The project we've been working on."

Kol stopped, the cup an inch from his face. He slowly lowered it and turned to stare. Kaleb had a smug look on his face and he held uo the brown package. Like a viper, Kol reached out and snagged the brown paper from him. Gently he held the item in his hand and slowly unwrapped it.

His face twisted into a smile, as the golden dagger shinned

AN:

Alice is not an OC. She is a minor character from the Vampire Diaries Season 2. She was the girl who was in a relationship with Slater. She wanted him to turn her.

The reason I used her is because I don't want to many OC's. Having a few around to help the world feel more full is a given, but if given the choice, I'll use an obscure character. I like taking minor characters and using them when I can.

Josh is of course Josh from The Originals, only Kol turned him.

Tina was Josh's friend from The Originals Season One, Episode One. The girl who grabbed the coin first.

Gia, from season 2. I was sad when she died and decided to give her a second chance. As a vampire from Kol's sireline.

Kaleb was his witch vessel from Season 2. He was the only one we never got to see, the Mikaelson's other vessel's all having some screen time.

The gold dagger is the dagger we see in Season 2. The one made especially for Klaus.

Okay thank you all for reading! I hope to see you again next week
