I've always ascribed to the "He's not really that evil, he's just totally crazy" Theory of Sephiroth. But no one would deny that he's angry crazy.

This is the human that was beneath all the Sephiroth. People have the ability to be good or evil, no matter their genetics, but Sephiroth had a double-dose of wacko coming from both Hojo and Jenova. Who can blame him if he went a little nuts?
