"Are you sure it's safe?" Lina asked suspiciously. Her hair was partly in her face and the helmet she wore was old and rusty.
"If I weren't here it wouldn't be safe, " Doon grinned.
Lina punched him in the arm and she pressed her hand against the wall. Doon swatted her off and she laughed it off and punched him again. With only one hand hanging.
Then she fell.
Into the pipeworks murky water. She slowly drifted down.
The lights were fading and she soon closed her eyes.
Lina opened her eyes to find herself in the Ember Hospital. She went there before when Poppy was born. Poppy was at the end of the bed clapping because Lina finally moved her body. Mrs. Murdo handed her a bouquet of beautiful flowers each one the color of her drawings. She knew them by heart periwinkle, rose, lavender….
"I geuss we better get going," Mrs. Murdo picked Poppy up and Poppy waved. Lina shook her hand feebly back.
The nurse came, "You would have drowned if this young man hadn't saved your life." Lina saw Doon entering.
"Hey," she said.
"hey," he replied.
They began to launch into adiscussion of other things. When he was done he stood up.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay?"
"If you weren't here I never be okay," she grinned.
