(A/N: I know thanksgiving isn't until tomorrow, but I'm posting this story today. Live with it. This story is from Leah's POV.)
Thanks

"I'm starving," Seth says. "Can we eat now?"
"Not yet," Emily says, laughing delicately as she places a giant turkey on the table. "First we have to say what we're thankful for." She sits down next to Sam and smiles at him.
"I'm thankful for the new addition coming to our family." Emily says, protectively placing a hand on her swollen stomach.
I roll my eyes. Ugh. As if I needed reminding.
"I'm thankful for all of us being protected from harm," Sam says, putting his arm around Emily's shoulders.
The rest of the wolves, imprints, and other assorted family members say what they're thankful for, and I don't pay much attention until Jacob says something. "I'm thankful for courage…the courage it took for me to return home." His loud, husky voice is practically impossible to ignore.
"I'm thankful for food," Seth says, shifting restlessly next to me. "Can we eat now?"
"Leah still has to say what she's thankful for," Emily says, looking at me.
I begin to rack through my brain for something I am thankful for. What do I have to be thankful for? That Sam imprinted on my cousin? That they're having a baby…before they're even married?
The whole room is staring at me, and I mumble, "I'm thankful for…" then I see Jacob, sitting across from me, smiling. "For Jacob," I finish, not realizing what I have just said.
The room is silent for several seconds until Seth whines, "Emily…c'mon, can't we eat now?"
"Yes, Seth, you can eat now," she answers.
I have just put some mashed potatoes on my plate when Jacob appears behind me.
"Can we talk for a minute?" he says.
I hesitate for a minute, then answer, "Sure."
We walk away from the crowded, noisy table into the family room.
"You're thankful for me?" he asks as I sit down on the couch.
I stare out the window, at the falling snow as I mumble, "Yeah, sure, I guess."
"Leah…" Jacob whispers, the word a breath on his lips. "Would you mind looking me in the eye and telling me why you're thankful for me?"
"Why would I do that?"
"Humor me." Jacob uses one hand to make me face him, and waits for my answer.
"I guess…I was remembering how we used to be friends, how you helped me get over Sam, and you're certainly better than anything else I can give thanks for."
"Well, it's nice to know you rank me above Sam imprinting on Emily," Jacob says. He lets go of me, then says, "We should probably head back before Seth eats all of the food."
"Race ya," I say, running back to table full of talking, laughing people.
I beat Jacob by one second then ask him, "What do I get for beating you?"
"How about a kiss?" Jacob says.
"Later, Jacob. Later."
(A/N: So, I don't know…I just thought I would post something that had to do with thanksgiving. By the way, it snowed all of yesterday here and I was wondering if anyone else has snow or if it's just me. Also, I just realized, Jacob's line at the end, "How about a kiss," reminded me of a book I just read. It's called The Book Thief. Go read it. And you know what I'm thankful for? Reviews! If you didn't pick up my hint, I want you to review.)
