Jumping in his arms and squirming about, Minato had to hold Naruto, a boy who looked the spitting image of him, with both hands this time instead of one and got the odd stares of a few women who looked to be saying by looks alone, "Can't even control your own son!" But Minato paid no mind to the other villagers and held his son with both hands and tried to contain him for as long as he could. The boy's fussy hands began to grab hold of his blonde, spiky hair just as he was walking into a tiny food shop.
"Hey, Naruto, don't grab onto papa's hair like that!" Minato said to his child, laughing as he grabbed a jar of honey off the shelf and took the jar up to the counter.
"Hungwee!" The boy shouted with surprise while they got out onto the busy streets of Konoha once more.
Minato smiled as Naruto climbed up to his shoulder and looked back at the shop they had just left. The boy cried out and got his father's attention. Kushina, the red headed apple of Minato's eyes who loved to talk about taking over Minato's job of being Hokage. She smiled and rushed up happily to Minato and Naruto and began to shake the both of them with her arms.
"I'm back from my mission early, Minato! Have you been taking good care of Naruto?" The woman played with Naruto's tiny hands and gave him her index finger to hold on to.
"We would have had a better time if you went shopping for food. But other then that, Naruto seems to be taking your absences rather well." Minato replied while the two of them walked down the street to their small apartment home.
That same day, it was nearing Naruto's bedtime and Kushina was about to settle her son in for the night when he began to complain about honey. Although it was nice to hear a child ask for honey, it was not sweet to ask just when one was about to go to bed. But she smiled anyways and held Naruto up and carried the boy back into the kitchen where he had finished his last meal of soup with a spoonful of honey.
"Can't sleep?" Kushina looked over at Minato who had been sitting in the living room, reading a book, one that Kushina had disapproved of.
"I wish that were the case. Naruto seems to have a craving for honey all of a sudden." She explained and took the jar that Minato had bought from the store and placed it on the kitchen table that had been layered with a red table cloth.
Minato pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers and rested his eyes while Kushina sat Naruto at the table and began filling a cup with the honey she had put on the table. As much as she wanted a normal child, she couldn't think of the boy being anything more normal then he was now. He just had different tastes was all?
She sat across from her son and watched as he guzzled the cup of honey down in a minute. Kushina laughed at the boy and pulled out a handkerchief and wiped away the honey that had managed to dribble onto his black t-shirt. Naruto in return smiled but yawned soon afterward. "Okay Naruto, time for bed!" Kushina got up from her chair and smiled as she lifted the boy into her arms and carried him off to bed once more.
As she was tucking the boy in for the night the only words that she could say to her son at that moment was, "Sometimes you can just be sweeter than honey." And with that, Kushina kissed Naruto's forehead softly and straighten up again to watch the boy sleep.
