Jonathan Crane has had a difficult life, ending up in Arkham. But what happens when all the inmates run loose? Will he find peace, or will he delve deeper into despare?
I dont own Batman, BAA, or any of the characters, other than the ones I have created for this story.
Jonathan Crane was many things, but the one thing he wasn't, was immune to human needs and urges. He, like all other men, felt the need to eat and drink. He also felt the need to be satisfied. In more ways than one. Jonathan had never been popular, or good with females, which added to his insecurity. His lack of ability to find a mate had to do with his quiet, shy personality. As a youth, Dr. Crane was gifted; his intelligence was beyond comparison. He kept mostly to himself, other than the occasional answer in school. He had the build of a man in his early teens, tall and lithe, even in his later years. He wasn't skinny, but thin. His muscles were clearly seen under his pale skin, and you could count his ribs.
Crane was bullied on a daily basis. He was a favorite of the high school jocks, getting punched in the hall while at his locker or getting a beating after school while all the cheerleaders and preps and Goths and losers stood around and watched and laughed. No one ever tried to stop the torrent of pain inflicted, nor did anyone ever offer a hand to help him to his feet when the fists stopped flying. He would walk home, bloody and bruised, with his hatred and anger building and building, day after day. His parents never noticed the pain their son was in, always drunk or high and arguing. His mother would yell at him for being a burden, while his father would beat him for the most random things.
As the years went by, and the abuse he suffered grew, Jonathan Crane became obsessed with finding a way to fight back, and make those who hurt him suffer. He became obsessed with the mind, and the power of fear. He spent all his time developing a way to control the fears of people, stumbling upon a way that could be used as a powder that worked when it was absorbed through the lungs, or a liquid that was injected directly into the bloodstream. The latter had more devastating effects in smaller doses. He began testing on human subjects after finding that the rodents he used in the initial tests had died of heart attacks and other panic induced conditions. When it was discovered that Dr. Crane was using human subjects, he was stripped of his title and thrown out of the university. Overcome with hatred, Crane created the Scarecrow to exact revenge on the University, and every person who had done him harm in ANY way. As Crane became more and more obsessed with destroying everyone who had wronged him, he no longer saw the line between good and evil. To him, everyone was at fault. And everyone deserved to be punished. Jonathan Crane was no more. He had become The Scarecrow.
A.N I may change the rating to M later on. Please reveiw and let me know what you think or would like to see. As a hint to what is coming, look at the title. : )
