I'd appreciate some critique, but it's not necessary. xP

30. Ghost: "Oh yeah, Guy, I'm not scared of ghost stories anymore!"

Just before he left the young Fabre to sleep, Guy would always tell Luke a ghost story. He didn't remember when the tradition – for lack of a better word – had started, but he never really questioned it.

It was their tradition and Guy always found himself looking forward to it by the end of the day.

He didn't know if it was the small sense of satisfaction he got from Luke clinging onto his arm when the really scary part came up or the bright smile he got at the end of every story. Nor did he know how he was able to make up something different almost every single time, either.

He just knew that it was a pleasant thing to anticipate after a day of teaching and chasing around an energetic Luke, all day long.

Luke seemed to enjoy them, too. He was the one who reminded Guy about them every night, anyway. Despite how much they always scared him.

So, it was pretty shocking when Luke suddenly spoke up one night to Guy, after hearing about the black monster lurking in Inista Marsh, with a toothy grin. "You know, Guy? I'm not that scared of ghost stories, anymore!" He giggled as if the entire idea of being afraid was completely absurd to begin with.

Guy raised an eyebrow at that. "When did this start?"

"Ummm…about a month ago…? I think…" Luke tossed his head back, the tip of his tongue peeking from between pink lips, expressing his attempt at looking thoughtful.

Confused, Guy scratched the back of his head – a nervous habit he picked up at one point or another – and moved to tuck the young Fabre into his bed. "Is that so? Then, how come you still ask me to come and tell them to you?"

Luke's grin widened, like he was expecting that question. "Because!" He paused, his tone very matter-of-factly that Guy almost felt silly that even asked. "Because I like it when Guy tells me ghost stories!"

Guy stared dumbly for a few seconds before chuckling and continuing to bring up the bed sheets to cover Luke's body. "Oh, well in that case, I like telling you ghost stories, too."

They both shared goofy smiles and went about their nightly business. Neither questioned or added onto the subject. Nor did they stop continuing their tradition.
