First Kiss

"Honda, come back here and face me like a man!"

"I don't have a gun yet!"

Shizuka felt her eyelids drooping as she watched Honda's character dart frantically around the screen in search for a gun to defend himself from her brother. The game had been amusing when it first started, but after several rounds her enthusiasm and her cheers for her brother had died down. She suppressed a yawn as Honda's screen went black. Jonouchi let out a whoop and patted his defeated friend on the shoulder. He was in the middle of giving Honda some false condolences when his own screen went faded out. He let out a loud yell.

"Gah, Yugi! You can't shoot me when I'm not paying attention!"

"Should I wait until you don't have a gun?" Yugi shot him a playful grin.

Jonouchi was about to answer him when he was cut off by a loud sigh from behind everyone. Shizuka turned with everyone else and saw Anzu standing in the doorway leading from the game shop part of the Mouto's home.

"Sorry I'm late."

"That's okay, we didn't miss you," Jonouchi replied, giving her a wide smile.

"Oh really, then I guess you don't want any of the snacks I brought," Anzu pretended to be offended and brought up the cloth shopping bag in her hand. Even though Shizuka didn't look back, she was sure all three boys had their eyes on it. She was just about to turn back towards the television when something small taped to the top of the doorway caught her attention.

It was no surprise she had forgotten about the tiny branch that had greeted her earlier that evening. But as she recalled being almost assaulted by Honda, she realized that it was mistletoe.

And that Anzu was standing right underneath it.

No one would suspect her of anything if she suddenly got off the couch and walked over to her friend. Her arms, wide open to give the older girl a hug, would betray nothing of her intention. She would simply walk over to Anzu and embrace her. Anzu's sweater would feel soft against her hands.

Anzu would probably wonder why she was still hugging her, but that wouldn't be for long. Trying hard not to close her eyes, she would push herself up onto her tip-toes and gently land her lips on top of Anzu's. For a few precious moments, she would fight her excitement and Anzu's slippery lip-gloss to stay there.

It would have to end and she would pull herself away slowly and look at Anzu, all the while afraid of what she would find on the other girl's face after the shock wore off.

What would she do? Would she shout and push her away? Would she smile and kiss her back?

Shizuka didn't know.

And as Anzu left the reach of the mistletoe, she knew she wouldn't find out.

End

So, this is probably the closest I'll ever get to writing a holiday themed fanfiction. My lack of love for holidays probably shows in the scant description of the mistletoe. I don't really know what it looks like exactly and I never remember to look it up before the deadline of this story for Computerfreak101's contest. Hopefully it's not something completely different.
