A black she-cat with white paws was basking in the sunlight when Squirrelflight & Brambleclaw found her scent. They started to stalk towards her & the wind changed. When the she-cat caught their scents, she scrambled to her paws & looked toward the bushes warily.
"I know you're there," she called. "My name is Socks. I heard about wild cats living out here & I decided that a life out here sounds better than a life in the boat place, eating road kill. Are you wild cats?"
"Yes. I'm Brambleclaw & this is my mate, Squirrelflight. We are ThunderClan warriors. Do you really want to join a clan?" Brambleclaw padded out of the undergrowth.
"Yes." Socks sat down & looked around the clearing. "Are there more of you?"
"Yes, follow us." Brambleclaw turned & padded into the trees.
Squirrelflight raced after him & Socks streaked after her. After a few minutes, Socks sped past Brambleclaw & Squirrelflight. The two warriors stared after the speedy she-cat in surprise.
"Is everything okay?" Socks padded back to where the warriors had paused & sniffed the air.
"Yes. Follow us." Brambleclaw mewed.
