"Argh!" Lana jumped a bit as she entered the Torch office, hearing Chloe scream and throw something down.
"Chloe?" Lana asked when she found Chloe sitting on the new couch in the corner, the latest edition of People at her feet.
"I hate Britney Spears. I bought this magazine to read about Sharon Osborne's surgery, really, I did," Chloe answered, picking up the magazine and throwing it to Lana. "But this Britney article caught my eye. Look at the pictures in it!" Chloe said, her face glowing in anger
Lana grinned and sat down at a computer across from Chloe, flipping through the articles until she got to the one with Britney.
"Eww! Isn't this from the VMA's last year? She looks like some Amazon tribe's street walker or something." Lana said, looking at the picture of Britney with a snake around her neck.
"I know! She looks like a hooker all the time! I mean, my little cousin Courtney listen to her music, and last year she dressed as Britney for Halloween.Britney tries to say she's not a role model for young girls, but she is. It just comes with the pop star package!" Chloe ranted, looking at Lana when she finished.
"I agree. And did you read this thing on Jessica Simpson and her boyfriend's reported breakup?" Lana asked, handing the magazine back to Chloe with a sigh. "They say they think it was just a publicity scam, and so is their engagement. Pop stars make me sick. They look like freakin' porn to me, and they are on basic cable! It's so sad!"
"It really is. I mean, they give some poor girls such unrealistic standards to live up to." Chloe sighed dramatically, then
threw the People to the other side of the couch.
"You probably didn't come here just to hear me rant, so what's up?"
"My article. It's due today, right?" Lana asked, handing Chloe a disk
"Technically it is, but half the staff never turns in articles on time, so I kinda don't expect anything until at least two days past the deadline. But, you're now off my hit list, so be happy!"
"I am. I've got to go; maybe I'll see you later at the Talon?" Lana asked, looking at Chloe.
"Gimme a minute,if you're heading that way, I'll accompany you."
"Sure. By the way, that's a really cute sweater." Lana said as Chloe grabbed her purse.
"You agree with me about pop stars, you turn your articles in on time, and you like my sweater? Why can't you have a brother?" Chloe grinned at Lana.
"Well, uhm..." Lana said, surprised by Chloe's abrupt question.
"Never mind," Chloe laughed. "I think I meant 'this is the beginning of a beautiful...partnership'."
"Works for me. You ready?"
"Yup. Let's go."
Lana turned towards the door, a smiling splitting her face in half. Chloe fell in step behind her, trying to hide her mirror image of Lana's smile.
