1 and a half years before this story starts, President Snow, the young 15 year old newly appointed president, announced the punishment for the districts. Every year each of the twelve districts are to offer up one boy and one girl, this event will be called the reaping. The 12 boys and 12 girls will go through a process of interviews and parades before being placed into the arena to fight to the death until a long victor remains.
