Comfort under the Moon
It was night and the windows were open. The moonbeams came through the window between the white silk courtains. The room didn't need more light. They didn't need more light.
The rumpled sheets had acquired a reddish hue: The blood's hue.
Several rubies dotted the mattress that night… As other many nights.
Lying on the bed they kept quiet, listening their breathings and admiring each other.
_ Look, if I put my hand on your chest, it gets cold… Do you know why?
_ No, I don't.
_ Because your heart is frozen.
The lithuanian girl put her hand upon Nikolai's chest and she left it there resting for a long time while she was looking directly to the eyes of the young man. She did so until her hand went cold.
On the other hand, her naked body, positioned right over his body, was warm.
_ I see… You are warm. Do you know why?
_ … Yes, I do.
Then, the belarusian boy brought his hand to the Helena's back and he ran it with his forefinger gently. Even though he was subtle, Helena couldn't help but close her eyes and bite slightly her lower lip, thus showing a pained expression on her face.
The boy stopped his touch and removed his hand from the Lithuanian girl's back.
Then he showed her his forefinger: It was stained with blood.
_ It's hot… And It hurts, doesn't it?
_ Y-yes, It hurts.
_ All the things big sister does hurt. She hit you until you begin to bleed and… to me…
_ She hurts you too … in the heart … and she freezes it more and more.
Helena said as she put her forefinger pointing the place where the boy's heart was.
_ But that can be fixed. I'm going to fix it.
Then, the girl took some of the blood that Nikolai had, staining his own forefinger. After that she turned back to the boy's chest and there she drew a little heart with her blood. At the end she placed a soft kiss on the drawing that she had just do and smiled tenderly.
_ You are an idiot, Helena…
_ I know.
Nikolai said these words with an almost imperceptible smile while he was stroking one of the Lithuanian girl's cheeks.
Why? Why did they always end on this way?
So hurt, so damaged, so alone…
That severe pain, physical or mental, and produced by the same person, had connected them without knowing how.
One was the consolation for the other and vice versa.
It had always been like that, from the beginning, and that … that would never change.
The End
