What We Do
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Carlos didn't mean to listen, he didn't mean to follow but he did. He has no regrets.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Carlos didn't mean to listen on Andros.
Honestly, he didn't. It just sort of happened. He wouldn't lie that a part of him was curious on what Andros was doing or watching. He really just wanted to finish checking over the maps before heading for bed. He saw something caught his eye as he walked passed the doorway.
He couldn't help but stopped and watch the video along side with Andros.
It pained him to watch Andros's reactions to the video. The angst on his face was disheartening. It was hard to watch for him.
His first reaction was to comfort his friend but he wasn't sure how. Andros wasn't…open to them.
At least, not yet. Andros was…a good teammate and a leader. He is just so distant. Any Earth-based conversations like movies, tv, or sports went well over his head and trying to talk about himself left them almost always with Andros leaving the room or uncomfortable and they forced to change the subject.
Fun.
Ashely has more luck with Andros than anyone else. He wasn't sure how he quite felt about that.
He couldn't pin down an emotion if he tried. But he knew that…he was over her. He passed that bridge months ago but it felt strange.
Everything felt strange. Off.
They still haven't become a team. There were new colors…well at least for him and TJ. It took him a moment not to pick up the green t-shirt stuffed into his closet. It was an old habit that was hard to break.
It was much harder not to turn TJ for leadership. It was hard. There were mistakes and bruises. There were moments that they came back annoyed and unhappy. In those moments, he missed TJ's leadership. He wasn't the only one to express those thoughts because he heard Cassie talking to TJ about it.
TJ seemed to become the most logical person over night and told Cassie that Andros was the best person to lead them.
He said that this was a different type of fight than before.
Of course, TJ was right but didn't mean that he had to like it.
But times were changing weather he liked it or not. Sometimes, he could see that change coming. In other moments, he couldn't.
It was like that the time that Andros told a joke. Okay, it wasn't a funny joke but he was trying. He tried understanding tv and music. It was hilarious with some of Andros's questions about Earth. They also discovered that he had quite a sweet tooth. Who knew that aliens liked chocolate so much?
While Andros had a different leadership style than TJ, they were coming together. There were victories and successes. There were celebrations and conversations about what they could do better.
They were getting there. One battle at a time.
So when DECA told them that Andros ran off to his home planet to find his sister, he knew what he had to do.
He had to save a friend.
