"Wanda?"
"Wanda? Hello? Wanda...? Where are you?"
There was no reply. I tried again.
"Wanda!?! Wanderer!?"
The black room. That's where I was. I had been in here for a while. It was my comfort zone, my new home now.
"Wanda where have you gone? Where?"
I found myself crying. Where was my Wanda? They needed her, they needed her alive, she was pure and kind and brave...She took away my freedom but she never mistreated me. She made me watch Jared and Jamie, though I couldn't touch them, but she always let me. Maybe I was too hard on her? Too strong, I was too much for her?
The black room changed. I jumped. There was a light in the corner of the room, a small, golden light. Light I hadn't seen though my own eyes in a while. Where these my own eyes?
I felt myself floating forwards. Floating...or walking? I had no idea. The light began getting brighter, tiny flecks of gold escaping to circle the black room. I realised what it was. It was a door. An old wooden door, made off smooth oak. With widened eyes I realised how I knew this door. This was the door to my parent's house...so long ago. The shining light was escaping because the door was slightly open. The door...it was open. For some reason I thought this door should always be shut. Never open. But it was.
"Wanda!!!?!"
Nothing. Complete silence. I stared at the door, and slowly placed my hands open it. The wood felt so real it was scary, but my craving to know what I would find on the other side of it was too compelling. Taking a deep breath, I pushed it open...
"Is she stirring!?!" An excited voice cried, the voice extremely slurry but recognisable. Jamie!
"Melanie? Mel? Baby it's me, it's Jared,"
That voice...that voice...I was breathing slowly. Wait a minute...
I was breathing?
"Baby...Mel...? Come on, come back to me," His hand was encased within my own. I could feel his beautiful skin, I could actually feel it. I couldn't wait any longer.
It was strange trying to get my muscles to move. I hadn't done it for myself in so long, the actual feeling of my own eyes fluttering to open was euphoria.
"She's waking up!!" Jamie cried ecstatically. I thrust my eyes open. My eyes. And yet...Wanda...my Wanda...she wasn't here anymore. I felt Jared's soft hand squeeze my smaller hand tightly as his amazingly fantastically gorgeous eyes looked deeply within my own. I smiled up at him, a hearty, full smile.
"It's me," I whispered. "It's really me..."
Jared nodded as hot tears swam in my eyes. "Yeah, Mel, it's you,"
Jamie was beaming ear to ear, something was in his arms but I couldn't focus. I needed to be in my love's arms, I needed to feel him again. I forced my body to sit up and lunged myself straight at Jared, who laughed in joy as he returned to hug with brutal force.
I then knew who it was in Jamie's gangly limbs.
My Wanderer.
