Past, present, future. Something I will always deal with. The passing of old friends and gaining of new. On occasion I wish to end it all, only to remind my self of some reason to live. That reason right now would be the League.
The League of "Extraordinary" Gentlemen, but how extraordinary are we really? Hyde is just a creation of brute force and anger, Sawyer is an all American cowboy, Skinner's a thief, Nemo a captain of a ship with hand to hand combat. And me? Vampire, thanks to that damn Dracula. Yet the traits of each member are extraordinary in itself.
Looking out to the ocean from aboard the Nautilus, the wind wiping my hair about my face, I face that decision again. Since I am eternal, it is obvious that I will continue on in the League, but how will I feel knowing all my current friends will die while I live on?
I hear foot steps leading up to the door behind me, followed shortly by the door opening. Sawyer pokes his head out and looks to me with his imploring green eyes. He informs me that dinner has been served. I curtly nod in response.
As I think more and more about the intolerable question that has plagued my mind since my creation, I realize that the past is history, the future is a mystery, but right now is a gift that is why they call it the present. I cannot see the future so how do I know of it the world is ever changing despite what Dorian seems to think. I must treasure what I have now and cherish my friends and not worry about the future to come. For that is the beauty of life.
