She could feel the dull glow of sadness as he walked past. Below the charm, the intelligence, the cunningness lay the lonely boy who hadn t been loved.
She studied the boy who was extreamly handsome. His skin very pale but seeming paler against his jet black hair. As she studied him her eyes caught sight of his and she notice that they were a deep dark green which had often been mistaken for brown because of there darkness.
As the teenage boy turned into the class room and out of sight the girl who had been studying him slowly started walking to class. Not watching where she was walking she tripped and dropped her books by the time she had picked them up she was already late for class.
"Why are you late?" Professor Slughorn said from across the class. Everyone turning around to see who it was except for the boy at the front.
"Sorry I dropped my books on the way to class" the girl said shyly.
Very well then Slughorn looked around the class "Tom?" The boy who hadn't turned around yet and the same handsome boy in the corridor stop his writing
"Yes sir?" his voice just as charming.
"Wheres Avery?"
Very politly Tom replied "Hes ill today sir."
"Well then theres a seat sit, sit." Slughorn said waving his hands gesturing for her to sit down.
As the girl sat down it was as if she was invisible to Tom. Tom had noitest her interest in him but did not show his acknowledgement. After getting her books out of her bag the girl rummaged though her book of 'Advanced Potion Making' trying to find the right page.
"64" Tom said.
She looked at him with a bit of confusion.
"64" Tom said again "page 64."
"Oh, thanks" she said smiling, feeling a little embarrassed. Tom carried on writing although he had heard her, he didn't feel the need to reply.
"Grace Gillian" Slughorn said cheerfully "do you know what page you need?"
"Yes I've got it thank you Professor Slughorn" Grace said. Grace was looking down the page at all the ingredients needed for the Felix Felicis potion. She had got the impression that Tom didn't want to talk much so she had a go at making a convocation.
"What is Felix Felicis anyway?" putting a hint of curiosity into her words. Tom put down his pen and point at the page.
"Liquid Luck." he said.
"Okay your time has started so can you all please get to making you potions!" Slughorn announced while looking through the cupboard where all the ingredients were stocked.
Everyone was well through making there potion the sent varied across the room some scents more appealing than others but generally all rather horrible. The only table that was bearable was the front one where Tom and Grace where making their potions. "Merlin's bread you two these potions these potions are marvelous" Slughorn looked at each of there potions with pure delight on his face.
"Now class" Professor Slughorn said getting the classes attention "these potions are perfect examples of what Felix Felicis should look like well done you two!"
At the end of class Grace watched Tom leave she knew there was some thing missing from him but just wasn't sure what.
"See you next lesson Grace" Slughorn said as she left the room.
Down the corridor Tom was with four other Slytherin s who crowded around him Grace examined them. Curious as to why they all seem so weary around him. Tom caught sight of her looking in his direction use to people looking at him he ignored her and walked away as his gang followed.
"Grace why are you looking at that Slytherin? you know there all the same and the one you happen to be looking at is the worst of the lot." a curly haired girl in a Gryffindor robe said.
"I know what Slytherins are like." Grace's voice seemed a little angry "and I wasn't looking at him anyway." she started walking as her friend hurried along beside her.
