Why?
Buffy Summers looked down upon the earth below her with sorrow.
In all of her years she had faced things no normal human had ever faced, vampires, demons, and other assorted beings. All of which she knew instinctively were wrong and that she had to and could deal with them. From the first Master Vampire Lothos to the First Evil itself that she'd defeated in battle.
But over the last so many years of relative peace since the battle against the first evil, Buffy had been shocked by the horrors in the world that she could not possibly do anything to help.
She was looking on the internet for charity sites and information for anything she could do to help at all when she found something during her searches that horrified her. It just seemed that more and more natural and non-natural disasters kept rocking the world off kilter.
September 11 attacks. 2001.
The Tsunami. 2004.
The London Bombings. 2005.
Hurricane Katrina. 2005.
Those were only four of the biggest shockers over the last 5 years.
She felt so hopeless each and every time. It felt like every time she turned on the news or read a paper these days all she came across were horrifying stories of tragedies.
Buffy looked out of her window and into the strangely calm and starlit night sky.
"Why?"
