Okay so tomorrow I'll be having my final English paper for my foundation course and yea, I feel like needing to write something beforehand so here's a drabble. I have to warn you first that even though I tag this with Athrun and Cagalli as the characters but they won't end up together in this. Not in this drabble, anyway. This is an idea I got before that never got round to write it properly so I decided to publish it as a drabble first. Someday maybe I'll write it properly - after I finish my multiple chapters, that's it.
So this basically will be just dialogues between Cagalli and Athrun and the italics are Cagalli's. And Cagalli is in second year, Athrun is in third year.
Confession - A Drabble
1.
"I've always liked you. Will you go out with me?"
A second. Two seconds. 15 seconds.
"Sure."
"Eh?"
"Sure, I'll go out with you."
2.
"Are you free this weekend?"
"This weekend?"
"Yeah, we've never been into a proper date, right? I don't want you to be complaining to your friends that I've been a poor boyfriend."
"I-I'll never do that, Athrun-senpai. But this weekend…"
"Why, do you have something on?"
"Hm, sort of…"
"Well, it's okay, then. Let's just hangout after school for now."

"Cagalli."
"Hm?"
"You're busy again this weekend?"
Silent.
"Athrun-senpai…"
Sigh.
"I suppose that's something routine, then; if you haven't managed to set even one weekend free for me since like, 2 months ago we started dating."
"Athrun-senpai, I'm sorry…"
Sigh again.
"If there's anything, tell me, okay? That's what a boyfriend is for, anyway."
"Thanks, Athrun-senpai."
Smile.
"Anything for that smile of yours, Cagalli."

"Another boyfriend?"
Silence. A nod.
"Cagalli…"
"I'm sorry."
Heavy sigh. Exasperated.
"Since when?"
"Since the beginning."
Sharp breath.
" But you were the one confessing to me."
"Yes."
"Cagalli…"
A plead.
"I've always liked you, really - since middle school. I wouldn't confess, because there's no way you'd accept me when you're rejecting everyone else. Then Shinn, he confessed to me…"
"Shinn?"
"T-The other guy. He's a first year, from Minerva High. We've been friends for so long and he's really good to me so when he confessed, I couldn't reject him."
"So why bother confessing to me then?"
"I wanted to move on and forget you. It wouldn't be fair for Shinn if I were to date him and like you at the same time. I- I never thought you'd say 'yes' anyway."
"But I did, didn't I?"
"I'm sorry."
More, longer silence.
"What are we going to do now?"
Period.
"I can't leave Shinn."
Stab.
"So you choose him?"
"It's not a choice – I can't leave him. He's finally changing for good after we're going out, I can't have him returning to what he was before."
Desperation.
"So you're saying that he needs you better?"
"Well…"
"Who are you to decide that?"
Icy cold.
"Athrun-senpai can have anyone he likes; Shinn only has me!"
Transparent beads on ambers.
"Apparently not, Cagalli. Apparently I can't have the one I like, because this Shinn has her."
"Athrun-senpai…"
Transparent bead wiped away.
"It's okay; as long as you promise me I'll never see you without a smile ever again."
Suppressed sobs. Bitter smile.
"Promise me, Cagalli?"
Smile.
"Promise."
So…I suppose that's really weird, eh? Haha. I don't really ship Cagalli-Shinn but sometimes I feel like writing them together somehow. /sigh Anyway, this is quite different from my usual form of writing so some reviews would be nice. And wish me luck for my upcoming papers; there are still four more and tomorrow I am supposed to do an argumentative essay on euthanasia, actually… Oh well, see ya! :D
