FF15

It wasn't fair.

It wasn't fair that she had to die now. It wasn't fair that she left her only brother when the other one had died. It wasn't fair that in one second she had been with her mother and her brother, and then she was here, in this misty forest, surrounded by her ancestors. Yes, she had been hungry, but at least she was happy!!

"Hollykit." A soft voice mewed to her. Hollykit turned around.

A powerful, commanding she-cat towered above Hollykit, her piercing blue eyes sparkling with stars. "Hollykit, we are sorry but-"

"I know I'm dead!!" she burst out. "I wish I wasn't." Hollykit wanted to lie down and cry, but she didn't. "Why did you let me die!?! You're Starclan!! You're supposed to care for us. Ferncloud, Dustpelt, and Birchkit will be so sad." She could imagine Birchkit lying alone next to his mother, and a cold lump of sadness lodged in her throat. Choking, she crouched down in front of the commanding she-cat, trying not to scream in anger at the useless warrior ancestors.

The blue-gray she-cat crouched next to her, her nose touching Hollykit's. "Hollykit, it always pains us when ever a young cat enters our ranks. What you say is true. We care for all of the cats in the clans. But sometimes, we can't do anything. You must understand." The she-cat hesitated. "We might be able to grant you a second life somehow."

Hollykit looked up. "How?"

Bluestar looked at her, a strange gleam in her eye. "Hollykit... you won't be yourself. You'll have no memory of ever being Ferncloud's kit, or Birchkit's sister. You have to believe me. It won't be the same."

Hollykit shook her head. "I don't care!! I don't want to be here!!"

"When Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight's kits are born, we might..." she faltered, "let you be one of them."

Hollykit stared. "Could you?"

Bluestar nodded. "Yes. But before that..." she turned around, letting her see a little tom behind her.

"Larchkit!!" she mewed happily, running towards him, rubbing her muzzle across his face. He purred. "It's good to see you, but I think it's time for you to go."

"Close your eyes, Hollykit." Bluestar meowed.

Hollykit shut her eyes, drinking in the scent of her brother one last time, before falling into darkness.
