With the Storian in hand, the School Master dove at Agatha but missed. The thick fog was blinding the three as they swam for life. Sophie stood by the School Master's side and clutched his arm for her inability to swim. Agatha was trying to find the shore but the fog blurred her vision. Thunder roared ferociously above them as lightning struck from the sky.
Agatha heard a heart beat, two hearts beat. They were coming closer. Agatha held her breath, shut her eyes and backed away, hoping they would not hear her own heart pound out of her chest.
The School Master tightened his grasp on the Storian as if it was the neck of Agatha. Sophie gulped due to the lack of air and was relieved when the fog slowly faded away. Sophie, Agatha and the School Master crept into the Lake and finally found each other, Agatha only a couple steps away. The moon was out and it was in a crescent. It shaped like the grin on the School Master's face, evil and sly. Underwater, Agatha fought the current with Sophie and the School Master at her tail.
"Now, me and Sophie will rule the Evil kingdom and kill all good starting with you Agatha," the School Master said, his icy blue eyes swayed like water.
"Sophie, you don't have to do this! I'm your friend and your Sophie. The Sophie who brought cookies to my door, who thought of beauty before brains and the only one who would ever visit me. You don't have to be evil!" Agatha pleaded, her eyes red from crying and the salt in the lake. "You're good."
For a moment a touch of guilt hit Sophie but the thought was brushed away.
"No Aggie. I'm Evil and always will be. So just— just go home!" Sophie's lip's were blue and quivered. She was stuck between the bridge of good and evil. Agatha pulling her one way, the School Master pulling her the other but the bridge is crumbling. She needs to pick a side.
Agatha felt raindrops starting to pour and she didn't know which were tears on her face or just rain. Wind slapped everyone briskly and howled like a wolf. The lake's current was going faster, Sophie safe in the School Masters arm, Agatha, holding fistfuls of ground from the edge, dirtying her fingernails.
"Prepare to die Aggie," the School Master smirked. Agatha took her last breath and watched the point of the Storian hurdle towards her. Everything happened in slow motion. Agatha got ready for the stab. Any second now. She wondered what it would be like to die. Would it be slow and painful or quick. She waited and waited but it never happened. Agatha opened her eyes and saw Sophie floating dead with the Storian pierced in her heart.
"She risked her life for you. She— she's… good," the School Master said in a whisper. His face turned red with fury and instantly jumped at Agatha with his bare hands. His hands around her neck squeezing tighter and tighter.
"This is must be a terrible end for you Agatha. A friend risked her life for you and you have no way to repay her. She's dead and so will you be!" Just as Agatha was on the verge of dying, the School Master was becoming visionless by an luminous light.
Suddenly, the Storian reflected a shard of light and was lifted in to the air. Agatha croaked as the School Master let go of her bruised neck. It was writing, just like it did in the fairytale. Agatha and the School Master leaned in and tattooed in to Sophie's skin was a singular word: GOOD. Then the world vanished in a tornado of spun gold and every Ever After became a Never After.
