Myles Fowl was dreaming. Dreaming of a time when they were a truly happy family. Dreaming of when they didn't worry about anything or anyone. Yes, he was dreaming.
The dream that he was having was a memory. In the dream, it was a bright and sunny day - which was saying something, as they lived in Ireland- and the Fowl family had taken the time to go outside and have lunch. After lunch, Beckett wanted to go and ride the horses. The rest of the family had thought this a splended idea, but Myles , however, had not.
Whilst his father was helping Beckett with his horse, his older brother had taken him aside to ask why he didn't want to ride on the horses.
Myles looked at Artemis with a surprised look on his face. " Because I wanted to finish my projects." Myles said, for once in his life confused. Artemis was a genius, much like himself, so shouldn't he understand how much his projects meant to him?
Artemis sighed. "Why don't you take a break from your projects, at least for a little while."
Myles frowned. He remembered a time when his brother would help and encourage him with his projects, but now it was like he was a totally different person. " But if I don't complete my projects, than I'll never be like you one day."
Artemis's eyes darkened. " Trust me, Myles, you do not want to be like me."
Myles was about to ask what he meant when Butler came up beside them. " Your parents say that it is time to go inside."
Artemis nodded and stood up. Myles followed suit. I will ask what he meant later,Myles thought as they traveled along the grounds toward the manor in which he had lived all of his life. When they got into the manor, Artemis went up the stairs and into his study. Myles frowned. There was something off about his brother, but he couldn't put his finger on it, and that frustrated him greatly.
Unbeknowest to Myles that would be the last happy day that the Fowl family would have for a very long time. Over the course of several weeks, his older brother would become more distant and more insane as the days went on. Then Artemis would be admitted would be admitted to a clinic run by fairies for six months. And last of all, Artemis would be killed the day of his release, and Myles would be attending his funeral three days later- which was where he was now.
Myles watched as they layed his brother into the ground. For once in his life, he felt tears in his eyes, threatening to spill over. Artemis shouldn't be in there. This shouldn't be his funeral. Artemis should be there with him and help him with his projects like he used to. Correct him whenever he made a mistake. But Myles knew that he would never have that again, but for now he would be lost in a dream.
author's notes: sorry if that was a little confusing, it's basically Myles remembering a life that he had before Artemis died. Oh, and the dream sequence thing is set a few weeks after the time paradox, so artemis is starting to get the simptons of atlantis complex.
