Along time ago, in a galaxy not so far away

1: Beginnings

"Oh, What IS it?" James Potter groaned, as he awoke. A very annoying, and painful to the ear (Well if you'd only just woke up) tapping noise was emitting from somewhere in his bedroom. He finally opened his eyes and looked around his bedroom. Stumbling slightly he shuffled over to his window and drew back his curtains. At first the light overwhelmed him, but then, as he got used to the light, he saw a large barn owl tapping on his window. He let the bird in. It seemed extremely miffed at having to wait so long. It flew around James' bedroom once, dropped a letter on his head, and then, with what James supposed was an owl laugh vanished out of the window again. James picked up the letter from the floor at looked at the yellow envelope.

James turned the envelope over and saw a coat of arms. Encrusted on it there was a Badger, an Eagle, a Lion, and a Snake. Hogwarts! James thought happily, he got dressed and rushed down stairs with the letter clutched tightly in his hand. He didn't think at that moment, that plenty of other children were getting the exact same letter as he was.

Lily Evans was in shock. Apparently, according to the letter she just received by owl she was a witch, and had a place in some magic school called Hogwarts. She made her way downstairs to tell her parents about the letter. Lily had a feeling that the letter was not a hoax, and a wave of excitement washed over her as she thought of Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
She didn't quite get the response she was looking for.
"Oh Lily, dear this isn't true! It's a joke!" Her mother tried to tell her "There's no such thing as magic! You should know that by now!"
Lily frowned, she felt cheated. "But Mum! It's not a hoax! His explains why I keep doing such weird stuff!" She smiled as she remembered turning some girls who were bullying her blue, and making her least favourite teachers face all spotty. "At least let us try and find that place, Diagon Alley" She watched her mother and father think it over.
"Well OK" Lily's dad said after a while "We'll look for this place, we're going to London anyway for your High school stuff" Lily grinned and hugged her parents.
"Awww thanks Mum and Dad! You're the best!" At that moment Petunia Evans stepped into the dining room.
"What's all this commotion?" The pompous voice piped out.
"None of your business" Replied Lily coldly.
"Alright, Alright, that's enough" Their Mother butted in.
"Lily's has got a letter saying that she's a witch" Their mother went on.
"Where?" Sneered Petunia, she saw the letter and snatched it out of Lily's hand.
"Hey!" Lily exclaimed, but it was too late, Petunia was already reading the content, she paled a little, but then the colour returned to her cheeks.
"It's a hoax" She sneered "You don't want to believe that rubbish" she gave the letter back to Lily, who stood up defiantly.
"Just you wait and see, I'll prove this isn't a hoax to all of you" With this, she stormed out of the dining room, and ran upstairs.

The rest of the day went quickly, for both James, and Lily. James wrote a long letter to his friend, Sirius Black. The main content of this letter was about 'How many dungbombs they would need to stock up on, and other mischievous pranks that they should get up to whilst they were at Hogwarts. Lily, on the other hand, filled her Journal up to date with hates about her sister, and Excitement about Hogwarts.
