"I assume you know why you're here" Tsunade tapped her desk with a pencil.
Kiba, Hinata, and Shino nodded.
"You have a mission for us, Hokage-sama?" inquired the Aburame, now a chuunin.
Tsunade nodded.
Hinata then spoke up "What sort of a mission?"
Tsunade shrugged: "I was getting to that part…but you may or may not wish to take this mission"
Shino looked confused, or as confused as he could possibly look, having a near permanent scowl on his face from the constant movement of the Kikai bugs through his inner coils. "Hokage-sama," he asked "What sort of mission is this?"
Tsunade smiled: "Assassination."
Hinata barely gave it a thought. She was kunoichi after all. "Who is the target Hokage-sama?"
Tsunade gave Hinata an odd look, and then looked to Shino and Kiba "All three of you, come with me." Team Eight, plus Akamaru willingly obliged. The Godaime Hokage stood up and walked over to a book shelf. She ran her hand down a row of books until she found what she was looking for—Icha Icha Paradise.
Shino stuttered, for what was probably the first time in his life. "Godaime-sama…You want us to assassinate Jiraiya?"
Hinata cried out: "You can't possibly thinking of having Jiraiya-sama killed!"
Jiraiya-sama? Kiba then noticed a bulge in Hinata's coat pocket. Acting quickly, the Inuzuka snatched a book from his teammate's pocket.
"Kiba-kun!" Hinata turned very, very red.
Shino looked at the book and fell to the floor in disbelief "Hinata-san…you read Icha Icha Paradise!"
Hinata tried to be invisible: "Um…I…Naruto-kun said Jiraiya-sama wrote them…so I…" She trailed off into a mumble.
It was then Shino began to laugh. Had the other three present not been highly trained professionals, they would have died.
"Hinata-san…Hinata-san…reads Icha Icha Paradise!" Shino was now rolling around on the floor, held fast by the steely grip of irony.
When the bookshelf slid into the floor, revealing a secret doorway, Hinata and Kiba had to drag a spastic Aburame Shino into the also secret room. They knew it was a secret room, because none of them had seen it before except for Tsunade. It took a while to quiet Shino down though.
After closing the door, Tsunade sat down on the floor and motioned for team eight to do the same. Shino at this point had lost his sunglasses.
"The target…" Tsunade began "is Cupid…"
Later that day, Cupid was found dead in an alley of Konoha with his throat cut, limbs severed, and tongue splayed. Weird pairings disappeared literally overnight, except that Shino had taken a liking to Hinata.
Kiba didn't care.
Sasuke wondered why he had a sore bum.
Kakashi found out that he likes women.
An original character was accidentally hit by a falling anvil. Iruka mourned the death of his lover—for about five minutes until the next one showed up at that point.
Hinata finished Icha Icha Paradise, and started on Icha Icha Tactics.
Jiraiya wondered why the shy girl with the white eyes stood near the men's bath house day after day.
