Harry Potter and the Psyche of Atlantis
Chapter 1 - Contact
Usually he travelled with no clear purpose other than to see the world and experience as much of it as possible. However, this journey was different. The owl had arrived completely out the blue and delivered an urgent message to him. The fact that the owl was very travel worn spoke of the owl's long search for him and that came as no surprise to him. The locations he travelled were more often than not remote and his ceaseless wanderings made him hard to find at the best of times. With some care he untied the message tied to the bedraggled owl's leg and rummaged around in his pack for something to feed the owl with.
As the owl attacked the beef jerky with gusto, he read the message with a contemplative expression. The message was from Albus Dumbledore,
"Greetings Frank Harcourt,
I am aware that in the past the Wizengamot has frowned upon your form of magic as an abomination but I fear the growing power of Lord Voldemorte has required the Wizengamot to seek your aid. I personally would have liked to respect your wishes to leave you in the peace that you seek but events have propelled the Wizengamot to such an extent that we are no longer able to leave a powerful asset such as yourself in an idle state.
Having stated the above, the Wizengamot does not entirely trust you and so have decided to ask me to ask you if would take over the guardianship of one, Harry Potter. I am sure you remember James Potter and Lilly Evans from your time at Hogwart's as James was quite fascinated with your peculiar powers and the pair of you made some remarkable breakthroughs in understanding the Dark Arts. Harry is about to finish his fifth year and will require someone to protect him over the summer. The wishes of the Wizengamot extend thus far. Whether you decide to accept this task or not, I and the Order of the Phoenix will be keeping an eye on young Harry.
Unofficially, and my personal wish is that you will teach Harry what you know. The situation between Harry and Voldemorte has progressed to the point that there will soon be a decisive confrontation. While I will do everything in my power to prevent this, I fear matters will not proceed as I hope.
As an aside, your son, Matthew Harcourt has enrolled at Hogwart's. This was his own wish, no doubt inspired by his close friends Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. If you accept this task you will have the opportunity to make contact with your son through Harry.
I hope you will realise the gravity of the situation the world is in and come to us in our hour of need.
Albus Dumbledore
Without preamble, the man called Frank Harcourt sent the letter from Professor Dumbledore up in flames. For a few seconds both hands were ablaze with azure incandescent fire, which then rapidly dissipated into thin air, the letter burnt thoroughly without so much as a single speck of ash. He then sat before the crackling fire, staring at the dancing flames, lost in thought.
