The Major breathed a sigh of relief.

He located the administrative documents he had been searching for. The firefight prior to this discovery had been hectic, but he had pulled through okay. He perused the documents, seeing mentions of Item 62 being passed to the testing workship. This would be useful information for later.

"Hopefully the professor will give me some goodies for this," said the Major.

The Major was startled by a radio transmission directed to him.

"YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE COME HERE STALKER," the radio blared.

"NOW YOU WILL BE WORM FOOD!"

The ground began to shake. Outside he heard voices shouting in surprise.

"What the hell is going on, Skull?"

The Major made his way through the shaking to the doorway and looked out. There were several mercenaries struggling to stay standing. One was seemingly undisturbed by the building giving its death throes.

"THERE WAS ANOTHER ZONE IN AFGHANISTAN, STALKERS!" shouted the undisturbed(in the sense of being affected by the shaking building-this man is clearly a lunatic) merc among them.

"SOME FOOLS AWOKE SOMETHING ANCIENT BENEATH THE SANDS!"

The building began to shake even harder.

"THE MONOLITH IS DEAD, THERE IS NOTHING HOLDING IT BACK ANYMORE!"

"You're a fucking lunatic, Skull!" one of the Mercs shouted.

The Major, seeing the condition of the building, made his way to a window. The fall didn't seem so bad compared to being crushed in a crumbling mess.

"THE SPICE MUST FLOW!"

The grumbling in the ground reached it's climax, and a giant worm spurt forth from the ground cutting the building in half and consuming the mercenaries in its giant gaping maw. The Major leaped from the window as the building collapsed. He hit the ground rolling. Recovering from the fall, he observed the giant worm going up into the sky. Too horrified to move, he watched the worm, accepting his almost certain death once it came back down.

However, such an outcome was not meant to be. The worm went higher and higher into the night sky until it hit a particularly powerful vortex anomaly.

The worm was sucked into the gravity anomaly. The anomaly actually growing larger and larger to account for the sheer size of the worm. Once the entirety of the worm was taken into the anomally, it exploded violently. Hundreds of gallons of liquiefied meat, worm chunks, and bone were splattered all over Yanov.

The Major sloshed his way back to Yanov station. He was greeted with the sight of the regulars- associated Duty, Freedom, Bandits, and Loners using buckets to pour out the worm juice in the station.

"ALOHA!" Hawaiian shouted in his traditional gleeful fashion once he saw the Major. Some of the other workers waved or flipped him off. The Major grinned and went to go help out.

He was going to have one hell of a story to tell, though he doubted anyone would believe it.

One thing was certain. This was going to be the talk of the Zone for weeks to come.

"All in all though? Just another day in the Zone," said the Major.
