She was stunning- absolutely breathtaking, in fact, and he couldn't take his eyes off of her for a single moment. Perhaps this was the reason his date didn't have such a good time at the ball. He would have to make it up to her later; his mind wasn't in the "hero" mindset. No, he was currently in the disbelieving area of his mind.

She was absolutely dazzling, shining in her periwinkle dress as she twirled about the dance hall. Her face was beautiful, mouth seemingly suspended in a permanent ear-to-ear smile. She was elegant and refined, her moves unhindered by the clumsiness he seemed to adorn. Then again, she probably had training in this situation.

All-around perfection, she was. Not only dangerously smart and dazzlingly beautiful, but she was extremely talented as well.

Her normally abysmal hair- to her, of course, he thought it was beautiful in its own sense- was sleek and shiny, twisted up into a knot, looking regal in design and only adding to her overflowing beauty. He would have to ask her about that later, seeing how she was with her date now.

Ah yes, how could he possibly forget about her date? She had told him that she already had one- well, she told a mutual friend, but he was present for it- but he had no clue it would be a fellow champion. The Bulgarian seeker, Viktor Krum, had apparently- as he would learn later- asked her shortly after the Yule Ball had been announced. She had agreed. And he was incensed by the fact that she was asked before he had the chance.

He had been building up his confidence, and had planned to ask her. But he lost his wits and asked Cho Change, his supposed crush. She denied him, but he didn't care. He didn't want to go with her, and he didn't have the nerve to ask who he did. Paranoia had kicked in; he thought it would ruin what they already had.

When he saw a blue-donned angel walking down to the champion's area, he had immediately regretted it. But it was only natural to worry; he didn't think she thought of him like that.

It was his hero's sense of judgment that made him drag Ron into the girl's bathroom in First Year, and she was his best friend ever since. His heart broke when he had heard that she had been petrified Second Year, and only her knowledge and sheer, dumb luck lead him to the perpetrator. He understood what she had done in terms of the Firebolt in third year, and had forgiven her easily. It did help that she was right about Sirius giving it to him.

He had begun to see her in a romantic light at the end of that same year, when they had gone to save the aforementioned Animagus. He admired her knowledge and quick thinking, and enjoyed the feeling of being in the air with her while on Buckbeak. He thought about it over the summer and decided that, if he couldn't be sure of her feelings for him then he wouldn't bring up his feelings of her.

So Harry stood back, allowing Hermione to shine in the spotlight.
