A/N: This idea came to me in 2002, when I was 8-years-old, and the only episodes I had seen were Ep. II & III. All I knew from the Original trilogy was that Vader was Luke and Leia's father, but they didn't know because they were separated around the time he turned evil. Plus, their mother died when they were babies This is what my idea of how their family was separated.
The streets were empty. All that was left in the market place was a bunch of broken glass and knocked down stands. Bombs were going off at every corner. Storm troopers were marching through the streets. Hiding behind a fallen cart were Anakin and Padme Skywalker each holding a bundle in their arms. They snuck past the troopers and ran to their safe hideout.
They rushed into their home and closed all doors and windows, panting heavily.
"We can't do this anymore, Anakin. It's just not safe for them here! Not with these Clone Wars going on." Padme said holding her bundle close. It was her daughter, Leia Skywalker.
"I can't argue with you, but I can't leave here, and I don't want to have to separate children from their parents." Anakin said.
"Anakin, look at me. This is no place for two young babies, and I'm telling you we need to leave as soon as possible." Padme argued.
"I've tried to get out, but there is no transportation anywhere!" Anakin shouted.
"We have the escape pods!" Padme reminded him.
"We can't all fit in there! There are only two and they're too small for all of us!" Anakin said. He and Padme looked deeply into each other's eyes, and knew they were both trying to nonverbally say the same thing. Anakin sighed as he pushed the chairs out of the way to reveal two unlaunched pods in the wall. Anakin kissed his bundle on the forehead and placed sleeping Luke Skywalker inside. Padme also took one last look at her son before he shut the pod.
"Where will he go?" Padme asked with a lump in her throat.
"Tatooine, to my step-brother. He'll find a safe place for him." Anakin said trying to hide his emotions. Padme only clutched tighter to her daughter.
"Goodbye, Leia. Don't worry. You'll be safe with my friend." She said as she slowly placed the baby in the pod as tears streamed down her face. They both pressed the release buttons as the two shuttles took off. Padme and Anakin watched out the window as their children flew across the sky like comets. Padme could not hold back her tears as she buried her face in Anakin's arm.
Suddenly, there was a pounding at the door.
"Open up! We have you surrounded!" called out a storm trooper from outside. Padme and Anakin spun around in shock and gasped. They both broke through their window, and the troopers followed the sound of broken glass. The Skywalkers headed into nowhere with storm troopers following them. They didn't care where they would go; they just made a run for it. The held each other's hand as they ran. Soon, the footsteps of soldiers got louder, and everything just came and went after that. A shout rang out. A thud came to the floor. Anakin felt something jerk his arm. He looked behind. Padme had been shot! He didn't have time to think. He picked her up and ran twice as fast. They came up to a forest, and Anakin lost the troopers from their. Breathing heavily, he climbed into a tree to rest. He looked as Padme's face. It was pale as chalk, and blood from her mouth and shoulder drenched him. There was doubt about it. Anakin had just sent his children away, and now his wife was dead. He howled so loudly, the storm troopers caught the sound and followed it. They came up to the tree where he was hiding. Anakin jumped down, with his lightsaber ignited. In the blade's glow, you could see his blood red eyes. He slaughtered every trooper without mercy as he lost all control of his mind.
