The lights to Gotham Academy's computer lab were off, creating a dim, ghostly feel to the room. A ninth-grade English class walked inside in even, straight lines. The teacher, brown hair up with chopsticks, sent them all to type their latest writing assignment, an essay about their most memorable moment. She'd already set up the seating assignments, Garfield Logan beside Rachel Roth, Victor Stone next to Karen Beecher, Tara Markov by Roy Harper, et cetera.

Richard Grayson got stuck sitting next to Korinne Anders, also known as the class dork.

"You know," she remarked, perching her petite frame on a chair and swiftly typing in her username and password, "I can help you with your essay, if you need any help." The normally sullen girl seemed to be opening up to Richard.

"I don't need any help," Richard said crossly, rolling his hidden eyes. She shrugged. "Okay. Don't come crying to me when you get an F and I get an A+."

A Microsoft Word document came up on the screen, showing Richard's essay, "The Day I Got My Dog". Kori's was, however, a bit more intellectual, "When I Met The President".

Kori sighed as she read Richard's paper over his shoulder. "There should be a comma after finally," she said, pushing her glasses up her nose. "And an apostrophe between the 'r' and the 's'. You don't start sentences with or, and, or but, because they're conjunctions. Honestly, don't you know anything about grammar?"

"I don't exactly care, Kori."

"You don't care about school?" Disbelief was evident in her voice. "School is a highly-enjoyable experience for everyone!"

"No duh. I can have Bruce pass me anytime I want." He shrugged and went back to typing.

Kori finished after a few minutes and scanned his. "Oh, you have the worst style of typing I've ever seen in my entire life! Don't you know how to used the Shift button!"

Richard snorted. "No. Who cares?"

"I care!"

"Interesting." He smirked and waited for a response.

Kori scowled at him, her braces showing promptly. "It's due at the end of the period, Richard, which is in 4.5 minutes, so you better get it done."

"Leave me ALONE, Kori!"

"I refuse. By the way, you'd probably like to-"

Richard had had enough. "Look, stop pointing out my mistakes and shoving them in my face! You don't have to criticize everyone. I know you love to hate me, so go hate me somewhere else!"

Kori's gradual hard look now softened. "I don't love to hate you, Richard."

"I love you."

For one blissful moment, she captured his lips on top of her own.

That is, until the teacher yelled at them to get a janitor's closet.

A/N- Short, I know. I'm bored and spending my Halloween at home typing up stuff. So... happy Halloween, and please review. It'll be my candy since I have none. :)
