Cecily's head poked through the door of the drawing room before she entered. Cecily was already dressed in gear with a weapons belt balancing on her hips.
"i spotted a group of demons just outside the city and thought of you" she told Will, "Gabriel and I will be waiting outside"
will quickly dressed in gear before loading a weapons belt. He met his sister and brother-in-law on the steps of the institute. Gabriel and Will nodded their greetings before loading the carriage and leaving.
When the carriage stopped Will grabbed a seraph blade from his belt. He whispered it's name, the small space was filled with a soft glow as the Lightwood couple did the same. Gabriel opened the door and stepped out first. Will was last to step down onto the dirt driveway. He followed Cecily around the manor where at least forty demons were feeding on a carcase too decayed to identify as anything.
Gabriel stepped out from the side of the building to fire an arrow at the demons. Will shot out to join in the attack. More demons appeared from the trees surrounding the manor.
The three nephilim made quick work of the demons. The grass was soaked in ichor by the time they had finished.
The ground beneath their feet started to shake as something very big came out from the forest surrounding them. Stepping out from the trees came a demon the size of a single story home. It's feet were webbed and clawed, it's body was covered in thick feathers, and it's mouth was a flat bill with rows of razor sharp teeth.
"is that a duck" Gabriel asked confused.
Will looked at the demon and started to shout hysterically, "i told you that they were blood thirsty beast. It isn't just this one, they're all like this"
Cecily and Gabriel both reached to their belts for a weapon but both were empty.
"Will, we have to go" Cecily said calmly.
"not before I kill the beast" Will pulled his last seraph blade from his belt and charged and the demon.
He slashed the demon's chest open in a single arch. The demon reached out with one of it's feet and clawed will's gear the shreds before exploding in a fountain of ichor.
Cecily ran to her brother as he fell forward. She knelt down and pulled his head into her lap.
He was pale, and blood ran from his mouth as he said, "never trust a duck"
Cecily cried, because for the first time there was no fire in her brother's eyes.
