Writing Prompt – Fall

Golden wafts of sunshine filtered through the porch screen, illuminating dancing particles of dust. Tommy smiled from where he sat ensconced in a heavy fleece throw. It was still early and the air was crisp and cool; a light frost decorated the limbs of the trees with the softest touch of white. He could just make out a trace of breath as he breathed deeply of the delicious fall air.

Footfalls sounded behind him and Jason's gentle laughter made his lips twitch in a smile.

"What you doing out in the cold?"

The former Red and Gold Ranger moved to sit next to Tommy on the old swing, a steaming mug of coffee in his hand.

"Just thinking."

"About?" Jason grinned.

"How good you look with facial hair," he teased.

Running a hand over his lower face, the dark haired man looked thoughtful.

"Do I?"

"I only tell you every day," Tommy gazed lovingly at his partner, his eyes lighting on the titanium band encircling his finger.

My husband.

Jason lifted the mug to his lips and sipped carefully as the two men idly pushed the swing to and fro. Unable to resist anymore, the former Green Ranger lifted an arm from the protective covering and cupped his companion's jaw. It felt like a dream every time he was able to do that; for a long time his feelings for his best friend and former leader had been buried deep inside. Never did he think they would be here like this now, enjoying a cool autumn's morning together as life partners.

Forever. I like the sound of that.

Leaning in, his lips found Jason's and he kissed him deeply, his hand moving from his jaw to the back of head. Tommy could smell the warm flannel of his husband's shirt, his cologne, and the underlying intoxicating scent that was purely Jason. His mouth tasted of hickory from his morning coffee; normally, Tommy hated coffee but it tasted heavenly on his lover.

Parting for air, Jason quipped, "Well, this is one way to keep warm."

"Mmmmmm," Tommy agreed, moving in for more.

Deep passionate kisses followed; he'd went so long denying and hiding that he didn't want to waste another opportunity to kiss his mate.

"You know, Dr. Oliver, we could spend the rest of the morning getting warm in bed," Jason whispered against Tommy's lips as his free hand glided to the Black Dino Ranger's thigh under the fleece.

"I'm thinking I like the sound of that," he answered hoarsely.

Sitting his coffee on the wooden floor, Jason stood and pulled his new husband up with him.

"Come on, I'm freezing!"
