Kinda sorta based off of this myspace bulletin I had to repost, but yeah. lol
"Hey Serena." Dan smiled, hugging her tightly. There was something that made him enjoy being around his best friend. There was also something that made him like her more than a best friend should.
"Dan, hey, can we talk?" She cast a look around the crowded courtyard, filled with students waiting for their limos. "Privately?"
"Sure." He pulled her over by the staircase, sitting down at one of the tables. "What's up?"
"Well Blair brought up something and I wanted to ask you a couple things."
"Should I be scared?" Dan teased, his grin fading when he heard Serena's awkward laugh. "Go ahead, shoot."
"Do I...do I ever cross your mind? As more than just friends?" She asked tentatively, scared to death of rejection.
"No." He muttered, dropping his gaze.
"Do you like me?"
"No."
Serena felt her lip start to tremble, a sure sign that she was going to cry. She sucked in a breath, trying to make it through the next question without bursting into tears. "Do you want me?"
"Not necessarily." Each word coming from his lips was like a blow to her heart.
She felt her eyes well up and her arms start to shake slightly. "Would you cry...if I left you?"
"No, I wouldn't. Serena, listen-"
She cut him off with the next question. "Would you live for me?"
Dan sighed, shaking his head. "No. Serena, just listen to me-"
She cut him off again, shaking her head. "Would you do anything for me?" She watched as he shook his head, determined not to respond. "Dan..please. I need to know."
"No."
She turned away from his brown eyes, willing herself not to look like a complete fool. It had started raining, the dreary sky an epitome of what she was feeling. "I-if you had to choose, would you pick me or your life?"
"My life."
The second the words left his lips, she fled, not caring what he thought anymore. She bared her soul for him and each of his responses were cold, unfeeling. It was as if he didn't care for her at all.
"Serena! Wait!"
The loud splashing of puddles announced his pursue of her. "Go away..please." She managed to choke out, not wanting to even be near him.
"Let me explain." Before she knew what was happening, his arms were wrapped tightly around her, no intent on letting her go.
"Dan..stop. You already broke my heart. What more could you do?" She muttered thickly, her head buried in his chest despite not wanting to be near him.
"Listen to me." He said loudly, almost gruffly. "The reason why you never cross my mind is because there's not a moment every day when I don't think about you. You are always on my mind."
She looked up at him, tears on the verge of stopping.
"I don't like you. I have never liked you. Since the day we met, I've been in love with you. Nothing will ever change that. I don't want you, Serena. I need you. The minute you leave me, I won't cry, my life will just cease to exist. I can't live without you."
The rain continued pouring down over their heads, both of them knowing that they could get sick. They didn't care. A cold lasts a week at the most, a declaration of love stays with you forever.
"I would not live for you. I would die for you. There is nothing I would not do to keep that smile on your face everyday. I'd do anything for you, whether you want me to or not. I chose my life because you are my life now, okay? I love you."
Acting impulsively, Serena smiled, throwing her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his. "I love you too."
"Good." He smiled, kissing her again. "Let's get out of the rain before you get sick."
"I don't know what I'd do without you." Serena murmured as he flagged down a cab, letting her inside first.
"Me too."
