I don't own Jane and the Dragon or its characters

A poem I thought of while trying to write a different story. Hope you'll enjoy

With swollen eyes, I stare at the blank paper

A story waiting to be written

I grip my pen tightly, looking for words to write

Missing

Nothing

I look around for the lost words, but they're nowhere to be found in my lonely space

So I sit at my desk like a fool only hearing the jingle of bells as I slump in my seat

Waiting for my muse to come

It will come

My muse will come to inspire the imagination

Creating the imagery

Shaping the perfect syllable

But I have to be patient

If I close my eyes, I can almost see them

See the words that describe you, but I can't

Since your existence and my thoughts transcend words

A world of words I do have

But you are beyond words

Beyond meaning

I wait to hear a simple word from you

Hoping to inspire a flood,

A drowning of colorful metaphors,

A parade of similes

For depth of meaning

If only I could find the words that will send my heart racing

To dance in iambic pentameter

To mend frayed ties of places and spaces and dots

I'll use complimentary details as a guise

To conceal the fragments of feelings

I dare not let escape

Oh but sharing a simple word would do me good

If only my words kiss your lips

Or tickle your ears

To hear you speak my words

To mimic the feeling

To comprehend the meaning

If only I could find the words

If only I could find them

I try to wrap them up with pretty ribbons

Lock them away in a dungeon

Living in the bottom of my heart

If only I can find the words I'm so afraid to say

If only I could find them

If only I could write them

Or say them

If only I had reason to believe my words could reach you

To touch your heart

To soothe your soul

If only I could find the words

So desperate for freedom are the words that claw away at me

The word

The words

Tearing their way through

Teasing my mind

The words I long to say

The words I need to say

To define the meaning of only three simple words

I love you

If only I could find the words
