Wake up Shikamaru!

By: yamanaka-ino

Shikamaru is lazy.

Shikamaru is very lazy.

Anyway, this story starts with Shikamaru and his team training.

Although Shikamaru doesn't like it and would rather be watching the clouds, he must train for his mother won't seem to leave him be.

While one of his teammates, Yamanaka Ino, is showing his sensei her new technique, Shikamaru decides to take this time as an advantage and use it to lie on the grass and watch the clouds.

And that's just what he did.

Shikamaru was enjoying the time he had to watch the clouds and it always seemed to relax him. In fact, it relaxed him so much; he yawned and yawned, and yawned again, and went to sleep.

Suddenly he woke up with a jump, which is something that doesn't happen very often with Shikamaru.

And the reason he woke with such a jump was because of the noise.

"WAKE UP," said the noise.

"WAKEUPWAKEUPWAKEUP."

There were is sensei and teammates standing in front of him.

"Come along now," said Asuma.

"We can't have you sleeping all day," added Ino.

"but…," said Shikamaru.

"No time for buts," said Asuma.

"Or ifs," added Chouji.

"There are blades to sharp and Jutsus to train and the kunais to throw and the chakra to maintain and the missions to do and the shuriken to toss and the papers to get!" said Asuma.

"And scrolls to learn," added Ino.

"Oh dear," groaned Shikamaru in a daze. "The blades to train and the kunais to do and the Jutsus to throw and the chakra to toss and the papers to sharp and the missions to learn and the shuriken to maintain and the scrolls to get?"

He'd got it all completely wrong he was in such a daze.

And Ino, Asuma and Chouji set Shikamaru to work.

Sharpening and training and maintaining and doing and getting and learning.

Not to mention all the throwing and tossing!

Poor Shikamaru!

"Now," they said when he'd finished,"it's time for a walk!"

And they set off on the longest walk Shikamaru had ever been on.

Shikamaru is one of those people (although very few) who never walks when he has the chance of sitting down, and never sits down when he has a chance of lying down.

But this day he had no choice. They made him walk for miles and miles and miles, until he felt his legs must be worn right down to his body.

Poor Shikamaru!

When the arrived at the training area once more, Asuma said, "Right! Now for a run!"

"Oh no," groaned Shikamaru.

"When I blow this whistle," said Asuma pronouncing a whistle, "you've got to start running."

"As fast as you can," added Chouji.

Shikamaru groaned a deep groan, and closed his eyes. Asuma put the whistle to his lips.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee, "whistled the whistle.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee," went the whistle.

Shikamaru, poor Shikamaru, started to run.

But his legs weren't getting him anywhere.

He opened his eyes and looked down to see why.

And the reason his legs weren't getting him anywhere, was because he was lying on the grass in the training area.

It had all been a terrible dream!

And the whistle was the whistle Asuma was blowing for Ino.

Shikamaru heaved a sigh of relief.

And then went to sit on a nearby log beside Chouji, to think about his dream.

But you know what happened next don't you?

"Wake up Shikamaru!"

"WAKEUPWAKEUPWAKEUP!"

THE END.

A/N: That was inspired by a book I read to the boy I baby sit : Mr. Lazy

It reminded me of Shikamaru so much I found myself saying 'Shikamaru' instead of 'Mr. Lazy'

Hope you enjoyed it!
