Stargazing
Avalon's suggestion of walking back from the Command Center had actually been a good one, Kimberly grudgingly admitted. At least mentally. There was no way she'd let the orange ranger know she was right, knowing Avalon would simply throw it in his face with a taunting grin.
But she was right.
The sky was beautiful. The dark desert sky was so clear that every inch of the inky blue-black canvas was painted with the small dots. And as Kimberly and Avalon walked along, she was in awe of the beauty of them. Strange how some of the stars were distant planets that their enemies came from, terrorizing them day after day.
This was different.
She found nothing but peace looking up at the stars on the crisp fall night. The wonder and awe each star gave, making her feel safe in some way. Maybe it was her infatuation with the sky, controlling the pterodactyl zord that had her fly higher than the rest of her friends.
Kimberly glanced over at Avalon as she walked along, the sleeve of her leather jacket brushing against her sides as she went, head tilted back to look at the sky, trusting her feet to take her where she needed to go. Kimberly wondered what Avalon was thinking about them. She was so tough and…almost militant that stargazing didn't seem like something Avalon would enjoy. But Kimberly could see the peaceful smile on her face, nearly rivaling the one that stretched across Kimberly's.
A chill blew through the air and Kimberly shivered, bringing her hands up to rub her shoulders. Avalon must've noticed the movement, despite her warmth, for she immediately turned around and held her hand out to Kimberly.
Kimberly took her hand and fell in step with her friend, moving closer to her for warmth. She was cold. Shivering. So cold. Kimberly glanced at Avalon, hoping she'd get the hint. But the orange ranger continued to walk along, head tilted back, eyes on the sky.
Finally, Kimberly couldn't take it anymore. "Aren't you going to offer me your jacket?" She huffed.
Avalon smirked. "No chance, Pinkerbell."
