Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars, if I did I would be a male in a flannel shirt named George Lucas.

Author's Note: AU obviously, Qui-Gon doesn't die in TPM and this is slightly Obidala.

The Story

It was a thin sheet of metal that was placed on a concrete wall. They were the names of the fallen jedi, those who were honorable and wise, quick and compassionate; loving and strong, and Obi-Wan Kenobi was all of those things.

He was obediant to his master and tried to be true to his commitment to the jedi order he so readily fought for, never against. Qui-Gon Jinn had been more then a master and a mentor to him, he was like his father and now the older man stood there looking at the plaque that held his son's name. Obi-Wan was always so strong, he never thought it would have ended this way, his wounds seemed so insignificant, so small, but the infection was too hard to control and it claimed the young man.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was compassionate and loving to all things. Nothing he loved so much as his secret wife; Padme Amidala. She was the senator of Naboo and former queen, she was beautiful and wise beyond her years and their love had only been told to one, Qui-Gon Jinn.

He had told her everyday of the amazing and wonderful things they were going to do together once the war was over, they would go away and he would take her on the honeymoon she never really got. Padme always worried about him, he was too compassionate sometimes, the thought. He was always out saving the galaxy but then came home to her, holding her in his arms he would kiss her gently.

Tears came to the young woman's eyes and that name ment something different to everyone there, to Qui-Gon it was his son, his apprentice, the boy he raised and tought since his childhood. For Master's Yoda and Windu it was a symbol of a jedi trained and cruely pulled from the light and drawn to the force. For Padme it was her. She knew she would not and should not tell the jedi of their marriage, what would it do to her husband's memory? That one name, Kenobi, was inside her growing with the two children he gave to her before his mission to Genosis.

At the end of the funeral Qui-Gon put his hand on Mrs. Kenobi's shoulder and felt the life force of Obi-Wan inside her and he knew. Although the jedi may be gone, the man, and the son, they could not let go.
