Prologue

Bosoton-1850

The meeting had just let out for the night and I felt like we were not getting anywhere. My father wasn't feeling very optimistic about it either. It had been one month and it felt like we had just started that night. Vladimir was pushing hard for the vampire's right to feed whenever and wherever they wanted. The witches and humans wanted them to not kill and feed; instead they suggested hiring humans to feed off of.

"Why can't they understand that if they feed like they want to, then they will be found out within a month?" I said.

"Because Michael, they used to live alone where they didn't have to worry about anyone found because they could just leave and be done with it. Vladimir understands this, but he is receiving a lot of pressure from the others who were backing him as their representative."

I thought about this then said, "Do you ever have to worry about the other leaders pulling their support for you?"

He chuckled, "No, in the pack we know to trust our alpha. Right now that is our family. One day that will be you."

I wondered, "How long has our family lead the pack?"

"Since before the revolution when my father wanted to help support it, when the old alpha told him to stop your grandfather challenged him and won." He said.

"So what do we want out of this treaty?" I asked.

"All we want," he said "Is to be allowed to turn safely during the full moon. Vampires think it is sport to hunt any werewolves on a full moon."

"Then what do the witches and humans want?" I asked.

"You weren't paying attention at all were you?" He asked.

"I may have dozed off once or twice." I said.

He looked amused, "Well you are young. I suppose I can't blame you for that. Next time I expect you to pay attention next time under stood."

"Yes sir."

"Good," he said "Now, the humans want to make sure their general population would not be wiped out by the vampire's feeding habits, the witches spell powers, or the werewolves' blood lust around the full moon. The witches want to be able to practice their magic without being burned at the stake like in Salem."

"Ok." We walked in silence after that on our way home. We lived near the warehouse where the meetings were being held. When we got home I went upstairs started thinking about how all of these issues could be solved. I may be only sixteen, but I am a very smart young man.

I had an idea and went to my father about it, but he was already asleep in the parlor. I decided to wait until tomorrow before the meeting.
