Inevitable Doom
Chapter One: Game Over
Shadow dropped the Purple Chaos Emerald to the metal floor, with blood dripping around it. He walked by the remains of Eggman's machine and out the door, holding his head with his blood-soaked left hand. "So much for being the ruler of the planet." he said, as he turned left into the GUN Fortress corridor.
He slowly followed the grey path back to the hangar where the President's Escape Jet would go in times of emergency, leaving a trail of blood behind him. He looked around the hangar at the just-visible marks and holes in the wall which were left from the Black Arms assault.
"Heh…" He breathed, as he found Sonic and Amy's bloody and battered bodies next to each other, near the wall, both their hands linked. "He was more than just a rival…" He smirked at Sonic before turning around to see Tiara about a metre from Jet and Wave, who were still laying in the same spot, their eyes showing the same, lifeless spark.
Shadow walked over to Tiara slowly, trying not to force himself with his battle-wounds. "Hey babe…" He breathed, just loud enough for her to hear. She stirred, opened her eyes and looked up, instantly shielding her eyes from the ceiling lights above Shadow. "You made it…" She said quietly, getting up onto her feet. "You came back…" She said with a hint of happiness in her voice, tears starting to roll down her cheeks. "I did…" Shadow breathed, smiling at her.
Tiara knew by the amount of wounds he sustained in the battle with Eggman, Shadow wouldn't make it out of the base alive. All she could do was hold onto him until he collapsed, and wait for the poison within her to take her. She wept into his shoulder until his head fell into her shoulders, which meant his blood-loss was severe. Tiara slowly placed his body on the floor, so he didn't look like a random hit like Vector did just hours before.
She spent the next two hours crying by his body, before she felt blood fall down her arm from her own wound. She looked at the blood-soaked arm, then at Shadow, before whispering "I love you Shadow", before hugging up to him on the floor, and facing her inevitable death.
Eggman had finally been defeated, but it cost the Heroes their lives.
