Maedhros was surprised to find the charm still intact on Curufin's corpse. He was surprised to discover that his hot-headed brother even had it still. Curufin had insisted long ago that he had gotten rid of it, yet here it was. Maedhros, staring at it, was reminded just how much they had lost following their father. The good luck charm was a true symbol of that, given to Curufin by his wife exactly a year before the kinslaying and the Oath. Maedhros left the charm around Curufin's still neck. "I'm sorry." He whispered. "I should have tried harder to protect you."
