Just a very random, very short piece I came up with while suffering from insomnia. Takes place whenever you want it to take place, really.
Emmett is going to make an appointment for his flu shot (because he is a self-proclaimed geek who hates being sick) and calls to see if Elle would like to get one too. He is answered by a long silence followed by a tentative "Uh… sure."
Once in the waiting room, Emmett notices that Elle looks a bit pale, but attributes it to the fact that it is winter (and Elle hates the cold almost as much as she hates fake tanning). However, when they enter the exam room, it becomes clear that she is a little green. Emmett takes his flu shot without so much as blinking and Elle definitely looks green now. The nurse begins to ready the needle for Elle.
"Uh, Emmett? I don't know if I ever told you, but… Omigod." The nurse is approaching her now and her breathing is becoming shallow. "I have this deathly fear of need-" And she faints dead away. The nurse and Emmett share a glance and she quickly revives the blonde. Soon, Elle's shot is administered and she is sitting in the chair with her head between her knees, breathing deeply into a brown paper bag. Emmett is rubbing her back comfortingly and is glad, for once, that she can't see the grin he can't mask for the laughter that promises to come.
Her thick wedge heel connects with his ankle.
Or maybe she can. His face contorts into a grimace. Those things are lethal weapons.
"Would you like me to kiss it and make it better?" He asks, jokingly, condescendingly.
"Yes." She responds, muffled through the brown paper bag.
He shakes his head and presses his lips gently to the angry pink mark around the tiny red dot in her upper arm.
Elle takes the paper bag from her mouth and straightens up, looking curiously at her arm, then at Emmett.
"It worked!"
Love it? Hate it? Cat just died and you really need to talk about it? Review!
