"Well, it looks like it's you and me, two left out people stuck in the 21st century surrounded by stupid Apple products that consume our life each day." I said solemnly as I continued working on my dominos.

Sherlock glanced at my vividly designed computer then glanced at his stack of apple computers to his right. He raised an eyebrow at me questionably.

"Look at the others, Tony Stark, the Doctor, Harry Potter, Mr. Ethan Hunt dude, all off to their little missions running around saving the world." I flicked a domino piece across the floor. "And we're here just building a line of wood pieces that are eventually going to be knocked down."

I felt Sherlock's gaze on me as he watched me build the line longer and longer, the colored dominos stretching from the table to the TV. I looked up at him and the corner of his mouth tipped into a small smile. I couldn't help but smile too. Smiles are contagious. Sometimes, you don't need to talk to spread something.

I sighed and looked back down, placing in the last domino piece, "What am I good at?" I asked, even though I knew he wasn't going to answer, "At least you can use your deductive skills and do something with that, probably solve a few crimes along the way. Me, all I do is sit around like any normal student would. I guess you're the only one who can probably relate to that." Sherlock shifted uncomfortably beside me and I crouched forward to adjust a domino piece.

"Unless… you were never real either…" I said burying my head between my hands and biting back the frustration. And just like that, I looked up and Sherlock was no longer there, not even a trace of him, as if he was never, even, real.

alternative:

Sherlock shifted uncomfortably beside me and I crouched forward to adjust a domino piece.

"Unless… you were never real either…" I knocked down the set of dominos and watched them topple over each other in unison. Sherlock watched with me in silence.

"But you'll always be there, won't you?" I glanced at him and a smile played on my lips. Sherlock gave me a wry smile and he gestured me to take his hand. "Where are we going?" I asked but Sherlock simply put a finger to his lips. And then we took off, into the paltering rain, into who knows where, but all I know was, we were going to somewhere awesome.
