This is Madame Jade, and I felt the need to combat Madame Aurora's taste for James Potter. You see, I'm a Snape fan, and she's a James fan. (Imagine the problems there.)

I'll be honest, I hate everything I've ever written, including this horrid excuse for fanfiction. Cheers.

This is set the summer after their fourth year. I'd be ever so grateful if you'd review.

"Oh, come on Sev! You're being ridiculous!" Now she was pleading with him, one slender hand wrapped around his arm in an attempt to pull him into the shop. Her sandals made scratching, scraping sounds on the concrete as they slid against it; the sound of frustration. He almost smiled. Almost.

"No, Lily. I'm not doing it." He sounded cross to the few passersby, but Lily could detect his concealed amusement.

She let go of his arm and glared at him, emeralds ablaze. He winced slightly. Shouting was soon to be heard, and he knew it.

"You didn't let me get you anything for your birthday, or Christmas, or Easter! Not even a back-to-school quill!" her eyes were burning holes into him, yet he couldn't look away. "Will you please, just this one bloody time, let me get you a present?!"

"Lily, calm down," he tried to be placating, tried to be reasonable, but the girl was a determined one. Stubborn and fiery to the end, she was. "I don't want anything. It's not a big deal." She stared in disbelief, her mouth gaping, struggling for the words she needed.

She looks like a fish. Lily-trout. No, Lily-mackerel. Lily-salmon?

"Not a big deal?!" He was sure that smoke would pour from her ears at any moment. "Severus! You got top marks in Potions, best in our year, above me, Slughorn even said that you might be better than him, and you say it's 'not a big deal'?!"

He cringed at her words and shushed her frantically. "Lily," he hissed, "Muggle street." Her eyes widened and she slapped a hand over her mouth as she turned a shade of red that clashed horribly with her hair.

"Oops," she whispered between her fingers. "You just make me so bloody angry sometimes, you know that?"

"Likewise," he agreed amiably as she brought her hand down and returned to her normal coloring. She'd calmed down significantly enough to pull the most soppy, tear-jerking, heart-shattering face he'd ever seen her wear.

"Please, Sev?"

Her acting skills have improved ten-fold, he noted dully as he felt a scarlet blush work its way across his normally pallid face. The voice break was a nice touch as well.

He sighed. "Fine, but a shirt only and that is it!" She pouted at him and he felt his defenses soften again. "Oh, all right, pants, too."

Her smile returned instantly and she dragged him into the store before he could change his mind. It would be the first and last time she'd ever get him a real present.
