The water off the wall. It's echoing through the cell. Don't think I can take it anymore. Day after day they come in here. They try to destroy me, but they can't. I won't let them. They tell me that I'll break one day. They tell me that one day, I'll forgot all the good memories. I think they're right.
What day is it today anyways? It seems like years have passed. Maybe they have. Maybe it's only been a day. No….I know it's been longer. A year, at least. A year since he got away. A year since I was put away. One long year since you two left. It feels like longer, though. It feels like a lifetime.
Life wasn't supposed to be this way. You weren't supposed to die. She wasn't supposed to die either. Back in Hogwarts, it wasn't supposed to end up this way. Sitting by the lake in the shade, I doubt we ever imagined life would end up like this. That we, the Marauders, would end up like this.
Fiver of the future-graduates of Hogwart's sat by the lake. The girl's feet dangled in the water, and she was lying back on the messy-haired boy's leg. He, in turn, was leaning slightly against a large slanted rock. A watery-eyed boy sat beside him, knawing on a sugar quill. Another boy, slightly taller and paler then the rest, sat reading a book in a low tree branch. There was one final person in the group, who was sitting skipping stones across the lake impatiently.
"I can't believe you're leaving next year, Remmy…" The girl sighed, pushing a strand of red hair out of her eyes.
"And Wormtail……you're really going to Spain?" The boy who was skipping stones asked. The boy eating the sugar quill only nodded, and swallowed a bite. "Oh woe be us…what shall we ever do without you?" He dropped the small pile of stones and flopped back on the grass.
"No matter who we become,or where we are, we'll always be friends. Friends forever?" 'Remmy' stated from his tree branch. His eyes scanned through the small group of people. There was a small see of nods, and the skipping-stone boy stuck one of his hands into the centre of the circle-type shape.
"Friends forever!" He cheered, pumping the other hand in the air. The girl sat up, and 'Remmy' climbed down from his tree. Her, 'Remmy', and the messy-haired boy almost instantly put their hands in the centre of the circle.
"Friends forever!" They chorused. The small boy with the watery eyes hesitated before putting in his hand.
So childish then. We didn't realize we were living in an unreal world. Dumbledore can't save us every step of the way. He can't protect us forever. We believed he could. That was our first mistake.
They said I killed rat. He isn't dead, though, I know he's not. He got away. He killed a small handful of muggles. I got accused of their deaths too.
I didn't do it. You have to believe me. That I would never do anything like this to you, or to her. I would never do anything like this at all! They're convinced I did it. It was the rat. He's the traitor.
The one with the watery eyes, and the innocent face. The face that we never suspected until it was too damn late.
He's the one.
I think I hear them coming again. Their footsteps echo dully through the hallways. One of these days, they won't find me here. One of these days, I'll find him again.
He won't lay a hand on the boy. Not if I can help it.
I did promise you, didn't I? Once you'd chosen your secret keeper. You'd told me, the last time I saw you, that if anything were to happen I was to look after the boy.
I lost him, Prongs.
I'm sorry.
