The air burned her skin, made the clothes she wore cling to her body. She shut her eyes, keeping them closed tightly. She hadn't planned on actually jumping from the cliff, she hadn't actually thought of doing it- she had been bluffing, threatening Caine in order to save Sanjit and his family, for reasons unknown to her, but one step had ended up being to much, and her foot had hit the air.

Now she was falling to her death, but a part of Diana wasn't scared, wasn't to upset about this fact. Maybe it would be better, maybe her death wouldn't really be a death, maybe it would take her outside of the FAYZ, back to her parents. She would never know, though, because as soon as Diana finally thought those words, she was being propelled back up, grabbed by a giant invisible hand and being dropped to solid land.

"Ow. . ." the words came out as a whisper, as she opened her eyes, the blurry image of Caine slowly becoming less blurry by the second. Diana pushed herself up off of the ground, wincing as she did so. Caine was staring at her, the look on his face a mixture of disbelieve and anger, as he held out a hand.

"What?" Diana snapped, ignoring the outstretched hand that was being offered. She pushed herself up and brushed some dirt from her clothing as Caine shook his head, seemingly speechless. She gave him a glare.

"Had to drop me to the ground while I was so far up?" Diana asked rhetorically, she didn't really care to hear his answer, what she wanted was to get away from Caine. After what she had said before falling from the cliff, nothing good could come from a conversation with him so soon.

Diana pushed her way past him, heading back for the mansion. Caine turned towards her and lifted a hand, palm pointed towards her. Diana froze in mid-step and cursed furiously. "You cannot use your power on me Caine!" she shouted at him, trying her best to move, but was unsuccessful.

"Oh, I can't, can I?" Caine said, his voice sounding innocent. "But I just used it to save you from dying after you jumped from that cliff." his voice was strained, it didn't sound at all like it usually did. "And after, after you tell me you love me!" his voice rose slightly and he moved his hand ever so slightly, tossing Diana aside and releasing her.

Diana hit the ground with a soft thud and she winced, opening her mouth to speak but was cut off by Caine.

"Oh save it Diana!" he snapped at her, "I know you were lying, I know that you didn't mean it. I know you were just using it as a distraction so that those idiots could get away safely- and why you wanted to help them so badly is a mystery to me- but yeah, I know you didn't mean it." the tone in his voice was clearly rising in anger and sadness.

Diana stared at him, her face a mask of disbelief and anger. "Lying?" she repeated, "Oh yes, because that is the best thing I could come up with to get you distracted." her words dripped with sarcasm, "God, Caine! How can you be so stupid?" Caine looked at Diana as she picked herself up, "I wasn't lying, I meant every single word that I said to you- yes even the part about you being sick Caine, because that is the truth- Every single word."

Caine took a step towards Diana and she took one back, determined on finishing her rant, "I meant what I said, and, you know what? I, I can't believe I'm going to say this again, but, yes Caine, I do love you." she paused, shaking her head in silent disbelief, "I love you."

Caine lifted Diana once more and brought her towards him, this time setting her down gently in front of him. Diana didn't move. He lifted her chin gently and put his lips on hers- she didn't move, and this time it was Caine who broke the kiss. He pulled her into an embrace, his lips by her ear. "I love you, too, Diana."
