For Jily week. I made myself sad.
Lily always loved Halloween. She loved the chill, autumn air and the pumpkin carving and the children dressed as pirates and princesses and witches- the witches always made her laugh because it was just too ironic. This Halloween was quiet, though. It had been about a week since the Fidelius Charm had been cast and she was feeling restless. Not much had changed- they had been in hiding before the charm was cast. But at least they had gotten to see their friends then. She missed Remus' smiling face and Sirius' booming laugh and every time she thought of Peter she felt insanely guilty that he should be in hiding too now. She finished clearing the table with a sigh and moved on to wash the dishes. James had taken Harry into the sitting room after tea and Lily could hear them laughing every once in awhile. As she was rinsing off her mother's old casserole dish she heard a particularly loud shriek from the other room and smiled. Deciding the dishes could wait she made her way to the sitting room to investigate. "What on Earth are you two doing in here?" she asked as she entered, her hair falling over her face. James grinned, his glasses crooked on his face, and smoke circles erupted from his wand. Harry let out a delighted giggle as he tried to grab them. James scooped him up and handed him over to Lily. She brushed her nose against Harry's and he laughed. Maybe next Halloween they would get to take him trick-or-treating, even if it was just to Bathilda's house. He would make an adorable little pumpkin.
